"obey pam restrictions" and encrypted passwords
Hello everybody,
I?m using Red Hat 7.3 with Samba setup as a PDC, and
I?m having a doubt.
I am studying the directive "obey pam restrictions"
because I would like to limit the number of logins
with the same id. The documentation provided by SWAT
tells me that encrypted passwords (like used by
Windows98SE) will NOT follow these restrictions.
Anybody could tell me if this information is really
valid? If yes, there i...

Obey Pam Restrictions Problem 3.0.10
Hi,
I was using Samba 3.0.9 on Fedora Core 2 and decided to upgrade to 3.0.10.
So I upgrade to Core 3 and installed Samba 3.0.10 and thought I could just
copy my settings over to the new build and everything would run smoothly. I
thought wrong.
Everything seems fine until I enable Obey Pam Restrictions.
If enabled I get a login error from XP stating: " Windows cannot locate
your roaming profile (read only) and is attempting to log you on with your
local profile. Possible causes of this error include network problems or
insufficient security rights. If this problem persis...

dict client auth-worker service count not obeyed?
...ies on the same dict socket. Not always, but
sometimes.
It used to be that the dict client always closed the socket (AFAIK)
after 1 query. But now I see 2 queries issued on the same connection.
How does this work wrt. the service_count limit of the auth worker
process being default 1 ?? Is it not obeyed?

file creation mode is not obeyed
Samba 3.0.26a
OpenSuse 10.3
In samba.conf the default file creation mode is set to 775 (group write).
This mode is not followed or established when a domain user creates a file.
It is not group writable.

constrained optimiser doesn't obey constraints (PR#411)

Subject: constrained optimiser doesn't obey constraints
The constrained optimiser is calling the function with parameter values
outside the constrained range
In this example the box is from c(0,0,0,0) to c(1,1,.5,1). The function
prints out the parameter vector when it is out of range. This gives:

> As an aside, we are also getting complaints from other users that sound similar to an issue reported to the list on May 5 that secondary groups are not obeyed in 4.3.9. We have some shares defined to limit access to a particular (secondary) AD group and users are telling us that after the upgrade they can't map them any more. Not sure if that is related to the issue I'm reporting here (maybe not) but It seems that groups are overall behaving...

defaultto in hash property not obeyed
...lue.inspect
end
end
But, if I change the system manually, and if kernel_options property is
not set in my resource, then puppet doesn''t change the system back to
it''s original values.
So, defaultto seems to be ignored. If I set kernel_options => {}
they are indeed obeyed and applied.
Any ideas why is this the case? defaultto works ok if I don''t use the
hash in my property, so I guess it''s something to do with the
is_to_s/should_to_s/insync overrides?

[PATCH RFC] fixup! virtio: convert to use DMA api
...o the public API where we have to
> support it for ever. Please, can't we avoid that?
I'm not sure I understand the issue. The public API is not about how
the driver works. It doesn't say "don't use DMA API" anywhere, does it?
It's about telling device whether to obey the IOMMU and
about discovering whether a device is in fact under the IOMMU.
Once DMA API allows bypassing IOMMU per device we'll be
able to drop the ugly hack from virtio drivers, simply keying it
off the given flag.

The only real thing running authconfig did to the smb.conf was to add:
password server = MIND.UNM.EDU
You shouldn't need this,
