can't build from source: error: template with C linkage
Hi All,
Users have contacted me because they can not build MCMCglmm from source. All are using R 3.3.0 on various machines with different compilers
gcc (Ubuntu 5.4.0-6ubuntu1~16.04.2) 5.4.0
g++ (Ubuntu 4.8.4-2ubuntu1~14.04.3) 4.8.4
Mac OS X El Capitan (version/compiler unspecified)
The issue seems to be with mixing C/C++ with the repeated error:
/usr/include/c++/5/bits/cpp_type_traits.h:118:3:

distributed thinlto usage
I am trying to work through the usage of thinlto for distributed builds.
Here is the simple thinlto usage, just add -flto=thin everywhere, easy:

R Compilation gets stuck on Windows 64
Please note that building R on Windows is documented in "R Installation
and Administration", including links to external software. Particularly
there is a link to texinfo which is part of Rtools. The documentation is
maintained and it is a sufficient source of information for building R
on Windows.

Replicate Individual O3 optimizations
I run matrix multiplication code with both the approaches o3 at clang and
o3 at opt. clang o3 is about 2.97x faster than opt o3.

[LLVMdev] Testing LLVM on OS X
...hrough the spec test.
I recall seeing a note a few places on the website that said perlbmk
didn't work properly due to a longjmp bug, is that still a known bug or
should I try running that through a debugger to find the problem?
176.gcc generates an ICE when trying to compile with llvm and -O3.
Here's the build log, are there any other files that might shed more
light on this problem?

Replicate Individual O3 optimizations
Hello,
I want to study the individual O3 optimizations. For this I am using
following commands, but unable to replicate O3 behavior.
1. Documents/clang+llvm-9.0.0-x86_64-linux-gnu-ubuntu-18.04/bin/clang -O1
-Xclang -disable-llvm-passes -emit-llvm -S vecsum.c -o vecsum-noopt.ll

How to ensure -O3 on Win64
Hi,
Similar questions have come up before on the list and elsewhere but I
haven't found a solution yet.
winbuilder's install.out shows data.table's .c files compiled with -O3
on Win32 but -O2 on Win64. The same happens on R-Forge. I gather that
some packages don't work with -O3 so the default is -O2.
I've tried this in data.table's Makevars (entire contents) :

MAKEFLAGS="CFLAGS=-O3" # added
CFLAGS=-O3...

Repeated measures by lme and aov give different results
I am analyzing data from an experiment with two factors: Carbon (+/-)
and O3 (+/-), with 4 replicates of each treatment, and 4 harvests over a
year. The treatments are assigned in a block design to individual
Rings.
I have approaches this as a repeated measures design. Fixed factors
are Carbon, O3 and Harvest, with Ring assigned as a random variable. I

flags to reproduce clang -O3 with opt -O3
Awesome, thanks!
I'd like to have the last step (llc in your example) not perform
additional optimization passes, such as O3, and simply use the O3 pass from
opt in the previous line.
Do you happen to know if I should use 'llc -O0 foo_o.bc -o foo.exe' instead
to achieve this?
