New York City puppet users?
Any New York based puppet users want to try and get together for a meetup?
Cheers,

Upgrading from Mongrel 1.0.1 and Mongrel cluster 0.2.1
I am considering upgrading to either Mongrel 1.1.1 or 1.0.4, and
Mongrel-cluster to 1.0.5. Are there any gotchas or issues I need to be aware
of? Also where can I find the release notes for the various releases? (The
ones I found seem very sparse).
Thanks,
Brian

Moving towards a unified version number for mongrel and mongrel_cluster?
Are there any plans to do so? It seems that it would make things
simpler if the mongrel version number matched the mongrel_cluster
version number. (I realize this is completely arbitrary).
Thoughts?

Please review Network Virtualization page for Wikipedia
Hi Everyone -
Here is a draft of the first of two "pages" that I will submit to Wikipedia. The first page is a general network virtualization page. From this page, I will contribute a subpage on the Crossbow projects. These two articles are the first of a number of online articles on Crossbow that I''ll be creating on behalf of the Crossbow iteam.
The article uses

Is Puppet similar to Capistrano?
I discovered Capistrano while I was trying to figure out what I
wanted. See attached notes.

Puppet seems promising.

Is ZFS efficient for large collections of small files?
...y-to-small files -
for example, 20 million TIFF images in a collection, each between 5
and 500k in size?
I am asking because I could have sworn that I read somewhere that it
isn''t, but I can''t find the reference.
Thanks,
Brian

Damm Small Solaris
Hi,
for what it''s worth:
There''s now a new Live CD for Solaris called Damm Small Solaris:
http://www.sunhelp.ru/archives/179-Damn_Small_Solaris_0.1.1_English_Page.html
In contrast to Belenix this Live CD works in Qemu - even without kqemu
load the performance is not so bad. One important missing are the
network driver for the network adapter emulated by Qemu. But they

puppetd daemon vs. cron
Hi,
I''m running multiple vservers and have some aspects managed via puppet. I
noticed that puppetd consumes from 20 to 60 mb RAM and the longer the process
runs, the more RAM it takes. It looks like 60MB is the top what I measured.
Having a couple of vservers (11 in my case) this can already take up to 500MB
just for puppet! I''m wondering if there''s any downside in

Newbie Question: Can I setup mongrel as a proxy between a browser and the web?
I am trying to create a proxy which I can route my browser requests through
in order to gather information on the web page loading. At this time I am
particularly interested in the many GET requests associated with loading a
single web page. Note: This does not have anything to do with rails, my goal
is to run a ruby app in the background, set firefox to proxy all requests
through it, log those

multi threaded theoretically useful?
So here''s a random question: if a (Ruby) multi-threaded rails server could
exist (bug free), would it be faster than using a mongrel cluster?
(I.e. 10 mongrel processes versus 10 Ruby threads). I''m not sure if
it would. RAM it
might save, though. Any thoughts?
