Upgrading SerNet Samba 4.0 to SerNet Samba 4.1 on CentOS/RHEL?
Under CentOS/RHEL, using the SerNet Samba 4.0 packages, we have setup a
repository to point at the 4.0 packages and installed:
sernet-samba-ad.x86_64
4.0.12-7.el6
@sernet-samba-4.0
What is the process for upgrading to 4.1? Do we just turn off the 4.0
repository and turn on the 4.1 repository? Or do we need to jump
through more hoops (such as removing from domain / upgrading / then
adding

[OT] CAT5 IP-capable rackmount KVM units?
Rather off-topic, but I'm looking for IP-based KVMs (~16 ports) that can
handle both PS/2 and USB hookups on the server side. All of the answers
over at Slashdot are a few years out of date and it looks like prices on
KVM head units have dropped a bit over the years.
Some of the older units only worked with Windows, Internet Explorer and
ActiveX. Others like the ATEN KH1516i supposedly

lsm configuration issues...
Hi,
I use shorewall-4.5.4 + lsm-0.143 and it does not seem to work as expected...
When all providers are up, everything seems fine.
When one goes down, lsm says "link <provider> down event"... and it seems
ok but we then experience some problems such as a few unreachable sites,
DNS problems...
If I remove the downed provider from all confs and restart, everything works again.

sievec - manual compile of global sieve scripts?
How do you compile global scripts using the sievec command without
making the script directory owned (and group writable) by the vmail user?
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Pigeonhole/Sieve/Usage
# cd /etc/dovecot/sieve/before/
# (edit some script like spam.sieve that runs for everyone)
# /usr/local/bin/sievec spam.sieve spam.svbin

First time Dovecot user, really impressed so far. What is best IMAP enabled webmail package to go with Dovecot?
Greetings everyone,
I'm new to the list as of today. I just installed Dovecot a couple of days ago
for the first time, Debian Lenny Dovecot v1.0.15-2.3. So far I'm pretty
impressed. I'm using mbox format with Dovecot auto-deciding to place mail in
user home directories, which is great. It works very well with the Win32
Thunderbird 3 client over a small basic 100FDX switched net.

Fallback in a multi-isp configuration
Hi,
I have a multi-isp configuration both on ppp interfaces.
As one of them is 32Mbit/s and the other is 8Mbit/s , I have a weight setting of 4 to 1 as in the following providers file entries:
vdsl 1 0x10000 - ppp1 - track,balance=4
adsl 2 0x20000 - ppp0 - track,balance=1
I would also like to have fallback between them so that if one is

lda_mailbox_autosubscribe - v2 wiki is a bit unclear
In the old wiki:
http://wiki1.dovecot.org/LDA
-m <mailbox>: Destination mailbox (default is INBOX). If the mailbox
doesn't exist, it's created (unless -n is used). If message couldn't be
saved to the mailbox for any reason, it's delivered to INBOX instead.
-s: Subscribe to mailboxes that are automatically created (via -m
parameter or fileinto Sieve action). (v1.1.3+)

dovecot-config file location on CentOS5 / RHEL5?
Using the pre-built RPM from ATRPMs. Where does the dovecot-config file
get generated? Is there a flag in a config file that controls whether it
gets created?

Redelivery of messages in Maildir through sieve to be re-sorted
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/HowTo/RefilterMail
That solution looks great for a single user, but is it possible to do a
larger version that runs for everyone on the server? I'm speaking
specifically of a virtual setup where all mailboxes are owned by a
common UID/GID.
It seems like (with brief testing) that I could search for mail inside
of a "Refilter" folder, like

Pigeonhole vacation auto-response not respecting "days" parameter
This might be a PEBKAC on my end, but in our old server, "vacation"
responses would only be sent back to an origin address once per day
because we had ":days 1" in the rule.
On the new server, even though we have ":days 1", pigeonhole is sending
responses to every message, resulting in multiple vacation responses
each day back to each origin address.

rdiff-backup of Maildir?
What's the best way to do long-term backups of the Maildir format these
days? Traditionally we've just done a rdiff-backup or pointed Bacula at
the Maildir. Both give us the option to reset a particular mailbox back
to a previous day (any day within the last N months).
Do we just need to snapshot the LVM volume that holds all the Maildir
boxes, or is there some additional commands

Samba4 DNS - setting up forwarding zones (or how to configure clients)?
Let's assume that we have a network with:
domain = "addomain.example.com"
.1 - firewall server that runs BIND9, is not in the domain, but can
resolve all DNS queries. It is setup to forward any queries for the
"addomain.example.com" to the internal Samba4 server.
.8 - Samba4 server (sernet packages on CentOS 6) running with integrated
DNS in Active Directory mode.

SSL Compatibility? SNI vs SAN (Subject Alternative Names) and multiple domains
Getting ready to redo our mail server setup and I'm trying to wrap my
head around the ins and outs and pratfalls involved in SSL, multiple
domains, and Dovecot. I've taken a look at:
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/SSL/DovecotConfiguration
My basic understanding at this point is that:
- With SSL for IMAP/POP3, it is limited to one certificate per IP
address, because the SSL process starts

Adding RFC2307 attributes to an existing Win2003 AD domain?
Running Samba 4.0.9, we have added a pair of Samba4 domain controllers
to an existing Win2003 domain.
How do we determine whether RFC2037 attributes already exist in the
domain? And how would we go about adding them to an already existing
domain?

Samba4 - Win7 RSAT tools - global catalog (GC) cannot be contacted
Fresh install of 4.0.6 from source on CentOS 6 minimal. Provisioning
worked fine as did adding a Win7 Pro machine to the domain. Now trying
to use the RSAT (Remote System Administration Tools), specifically the
Active Directory Users and Computers tool.
When looking at the properties for the "Administrator" account, clicking
on the "Member Of" tab results in a 30 second

Restoring individual messages from a backup into a Maildir setup?
We have a user who deleted IMAP folders from his account, so I simply
tried to restore the folder ".FolderName" from our backup. I checked
that file/folder ownership was the same as the original, but the Dovecot
IMAP server is throwing errors at the client.
I've tried copying the individual message files from the "cur" folders
in the backup directory, but Dovecot

CentOS 6, BIND_DLZ and kinit errors (Cannot contact any KDC for requested realm)
It seems like the BIND 9.8 that ships with CentOS 6.x (and probably RHEL
