Also, the log file contains an error that indicates that the script is trying to find a file in a nonexistent directory: "/usr/local/lib/R/site-library/nws/bin/RNWSSleighWorker.sh: 37: /Library/Frameworks/R.framework/Resources/bin/R: not found" (see section 4). I've spent quite a bit of time trying to debug this, and I've gathered here all the information that I think may be pertinent to solving the problem. The following is therefore a...

Help with makeClusters for Snow
Hi Everybody, I know that R has snow package which can be used for Parallel Computing. However, every time I try making a cluster, the only type of cluster I'm able to make is the "SOCK" (that too because I disabled the firewalls). For the rest (i.e. MPI, NWS, and PVM), I get error every time I try making one. I get the following errors ================================================= > cl = makeCluster(c("localhost", "localhost"), Type="MPI") Error in make.socket(serverHost, port) : socket not established > cl = m...

I'm getting DNS not found errors from anything in NOAA.GOV. anyways, 'climate' refers to historical averages by location/month/week/date. presumably the API involved here was for current weather conditions

REVOLUTION ANALYTICS

So ever since then the caller would get the forecast for June something 2013. But because the weather in St Thomas is nearly the same year round, NO ONE NOTICED! Well, until just recently. A few example data sets, mostly from quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) experiments, are also contained in the package. The other two packages, caretLSF and caretNWS, provide alternate versions of caret's train function that can be executed in parallel using the Rlsf and nws packages, respectively. For example, if bootstrapping is used to tune a model, the B models can be split over M different nodes. For caretNWS, either the free nws package or the commerc...

Snow or alternative MPI packages on Windows
Guys, I'm running R on both Windows & Linux. I'm looking at a number of packages for parallel execution. It seems that the most used packages are "snow" and "Rmpi". snow seems more user friendly, but it doesn't run on windows. I see from searching the mailing list that I'm not the first one to try it on Windows. There was a message that kind of shed some

caretNWS and training data set sizes
Hi, I am using the caretNWS package to train some supervised regression models (gbm, lasso, random forest and mars). The problem I have encountered started when my training data set increased in the number of predictors and the number of observations. The training data set has 347 numeric columns. The problem I have is when...

Using svSocket with data.table
...d of course this is cross platform, the R client can be 32 bit windows, the R server can be 64 bit lunix. Or remote graphics for example. So I'm looking to do the same as the demo, but with a binary socket. Does anyone have any ideas? I've looked a bit at Rserve, bigmemory, biocep, nws but although all those packages are great, I didn't find anything that worked in exactly this way i.e. i) R to R ii) CLI non-blocking and iii) no need to startup R in a special way Regards, Matthew

What are some programs to use to trace spoofers?
ALL, Our Primary DNS has been broken into twice in the last week. The first time it happened I noticed the hacker used named for means of gaining entry. This guy was good at hiding his/her tracks so we reinstalled the OS and left a minimum install to see if it was done again. We logged all goings on from a secure remote machine. We got the hacker''s IP address and even some of what
