Samba + Cups 2200 Laserjet printer
Hi all,
Hoping some one can help me out here.
I have a 2200dn laser printer working on a centos 5 server (using webmin for
configuration).
I have added it via webmin as a samba printer share with permissions to my
account.
Security is set to "user level" not "share level" (the default).
I can access my samba shares fine, download and upload to them.
I can also see the

Then I think, we have different problems. Here's a longer description of mine:

quite dramatic and sudden problem...
Hi all
I'm running since a couple of years a samba ver 3.0.33-3.29.el5_6.2
On a Red Hat 5 with kernel 2.6.18.
Samba is member of a domain, with short name BNNAS03; some shares are
using domain users, some are anonymous, open to a list of IPs.
Suddenly is happening that, from my win7 computer is all ok if I call is
with
\\bnnas03
I see all shares, I can access and so on.
If I call with

Does samba modify print queues?
I have the following situation at the hospital I work at.
we are a windows shop (not my fault), and as such use windows 2k3 file
and print servers.
Recently passing 400 printers has apparently put too much strain on our
main printserver - called ntprn (been a windows shop for a while).
Okay, so now we are going to split the load amongst two or more
printservers... ntprn1 and ntprn2. Our users

Share level vs other ways
I read an email in here where Volker replied to a person saying that
share level was really weird these days, etc. Here's the full context:

Not on the same IP.
You are sure that you mean share level? This is really,
really weird these days.

SAMBA / CUPS Printserver
Okay, I've got some progress now. Have fairly decent printserver
working. I've been able to reproduce the same postive and negative
results in two physical servers and now (finaly destination) a vmware
server.
What's working:
ADS integration, this is a domain member
Printer driver installation (for a few drivers)
Printer installation / removal
Printing.
What's not working:

Is building a load balance setup like this workable?
Okay, before anything else, all I'm using samba for is a "Windows
looking" frontend to cups. Eg, so the users don't know I'm getting rid
of the windows 2003 printserver and replacing it with a pair of linux
printservers (Samba/Cups)
I'd like to have 2 (or 3) printservers, all the same build of linux
(debian), cloned, etc.
users will be able to go to \\printserver

working with the net commands... trouble.
So, to make it simple, my domain is KRH, I am successfully joined, and
can issue wbinfo -u or wbinfo -g and get expected results. Every query
I make about the domain works
However, I'm trying to add a domain user (me) to my local Print
Operators group on this freebsd machine.
Using Samba 3.5.6, FreeBSD 8.1 Clean install of everything yesterday.
So, I'm trying to add KRH\jdown to

Differences adding printers between Windows XP & Windows 7
Not sure what's going on here, but it's got to be a permissions thing it
would seem.
Background:
working ADS.
Samba 3.5.6 atop Freebsd 8.1 as domain member
When I attempt to load drivers with Windows XP Pro (32bit), everything
is fine. I can load either x32 drivers or x64 drivers.
The same cannot be said for Windows 7. I cannot correctly load drivers
with Windows 7, and here is a

Not sure I understand when add user script is called
I've built a domain member. It works pretty good with the exception
that I want on-the-fly home directories being built. I'm not sure this
is doable with a domain member as everything I've tried isn't even
called - as far as I can tell. Using log level 3.
If anyone can shed light on how to dynamically create home directories,
that'd be great.
anyway, here's my

Hard time installing printers 3.4.8
Hello, been googling this for a while. Read GD's presentation on why
printing is such a pain...
Anyway, I'm using 3.4.8 on Freebsd 8.1 I've tried a few combinations -
best luck is with 3.2.5, but I'd like to move forward a bit.
So, I've got the ADS part working pretty good. happy with how that's going.
my problem is when I attempt to load printer drivers.
