4.4/64-bit Supermicro/ Nvidia Sata RAID Driver
Hi,
I am installing Centos ServerCD 4.4 64-bit on a new Supermicro board,
the RAID BIOS looks fine, RAID 5, all 4 Seagate ES 250 GB drives show up
as a single array in the RAID BIOS tool, and the OS install phase
completes without a hitch.
One thing I noticed was that the OS was loading the sata_nv driver and
picking up the 4 Sata drives instead of the large RAID5 volume, it

Update on Xen on my hardware with nForce SATA
...se Xen didn''t use ACPI to do it. This will be fixed when Xen
lets Linux do the IRQ routing stuff.
The following hardware changes have been made since then:
- ATi Radeon 8500 has been replaced with a GeForce 6600GT
- BIOS was updates to v1.5. Quote from the changelog:
"Update NVRAID ROM firmware to Ver:4.60."
I tried a some days ago, and I was surprised that the complete boot
process did ok. (No lockup; this was with recent unstable IIRC.)
Today I tested once more, first with stable. (kernels based on 2.6.10)
Boot worked fine, but e.g. "dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/zer...

trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode".
2) If I try using the nForce sata3 ports, I always get some kind of kernel
panic on attaching a drive and "atacontrol attach ata4". The NVRAID
settings in the BIOS don't matter. I don't know if anything is AHCI here.
3) If I try instead with a Dell Optiplex 330, which uses an Intel ICH7 for
sata and which is configured as AHCI in the BIOS (and fbsd shows as AHCI in
dmesg), I get exactly the same as I did with the SiI 3114, except...

ZFS Inexpensive SATA Whitebox
All,
So I have started working with Solaris 10 at work a bit (I''m a Linux
guy by trade) and I have a dying nfs box at home. So the long and short of
it is as follows: I would like to setup a SATAII whitebox that uses ZFS as
its filesystem. The box will probably be very lightly used, streaming media
to my laptop and workstation would be the bulk of the work. However I do
have quite a
