qeum on centos 8 with nvme disk
Hi All - I use qemu on my centOS 7.7 box that has software raid of 2- SSD disks. I installed an nVME drive in the computer also. I tried to insall CentOS8 on it (the physical /dev/nvme0n1 with the -hda /dev/nvme0n1 as the disk. The process started installing but is really "slow" - I was expecting with the nvme device it would be much quicker. Is there something I am missing how to

qeum on centos 8 with nvme disk
I have CentOS 8 install solely on one nvme drive and it works fine and relatively quickly. /dev/nvme0n1p4????????? 218G?? 50G? 168G? 23% / /dev/nvme0n1p2????????? 2.0G? 235M? 1.6G? 13% /boot /dev/nvme0n1p1????????? 200M? 6.8M? 194M?? 4% /boot/efi You might want to partition the device (p3 is swap) Alan On 13/10/2019 10:38, Jerry Geis wrote: > Hi All - I use qemu on my centOS 7.7 box that has software raid of 2- SSD > disks. > > I installed an nVME drive in the computer also. ...ly cached / happen in the background so are not so noticeable on a mail server anyway. I kind of stumbled across this setup by accident when I added an NVMe SSD to an existing RIAD1 array consisting of 2 HDDs. # cat /proc/mdstat Personalities : [raid1] md127 : active raid1 sda1[2](W) sdb1[4](W) nvme0n1p1[3] 485495616 blocks super 1.0 [3/3] [UUU] bitmap: 3/4 pages [12KB], 65536KB chunk See how we have 3 devices in the above RAID1 array, 2 x HDDs, marked with a (W) indicating they are in --write-mostly mode, and one SSD (MVMe) device. I just went for 3 devices in the array as it star...

Re-enable grub boot in UEFI (Windows took over it)
...rub menu, and restoration of the (non-grub) "Windows boot manager" (or whatever it's called). After being bit by it once, I disabled it. HTH, Kay P.S. I recovered my Ubuntu grub menu by booting from the Ubuntu live USB, and then sudo su mount /dev/nvme0n1p7 /mnt cd /mnt mount /dev/nvme0n1p1 boot/efi mount --bind /proc proc mount --bind /sys sys mount --bind /dev dev chroot /mnt grub-install /dev/nvme0n1 update-grub On CentOS, the last two lines would be grub2-install /dev/nvme0n1 grub2-mkconfig -o etc/grub2.cfg > > By booting from a USB drive w/ CentOS7 LiveGnome, I could...

Help finishing off Centos 7 RAID install
I've just finished installing a new Bacula storeage server. Prior to doing the install I did some research and ended up deciding to do the following config. 6x4TB drives /boot/efi efi_fs sda1 /boot/efi_copy efi_fs sdb1 /boot xfs RAID1 sda2 sdb2 VG RAID6 all drives containing SWAP / /home /var/bacula Questions: 1) The big problem with this is that it is dependant on sda for

Re-enable grub boot in UEFI (Windows took over it)
Hello there, Dell XPS-15-9560 laptop (SSD drive, UEFI, secure boot off).. Windows 10 pre-installed, CentOS7 installed in a separate partition and running for months w/o issue. Don't know what happened but at reboot yesterday (not even booted in Windows, just rebooted), grub has disappeared, booted in Windows by default, which apparently has taken over the UEFI boot. By booting from a USB

storage for mailserver
hi, I am planning to replace my old CentOS 6 mail server soon. Most details are quite obvious and do not need to be changed, but the old system was running on spinning discs and this is certainly not the best option for todays mail servers. With spinning discs, HW-RAID6 was the way to go to increase reliability and speed. Today, I get the feeling, that traditional RAID is not the best option for
