"sync request issue"
It seems that the latest updates have "partly" solved the annoying
nvidia driver bug with black windows (for NV2x cards).
I can simply invoke compiz like that:
compiz --replace gconf
and everything works fine, no black windows or windows that don't
update. I say "partly" because performance is sluggish now. Whatever
these new updates do, they seem to bypass the driver's problem and

Thank you very much! I'll see that system in two weeks and I'll test
it with your patches.

texture dimension limits in ddx
...e have different size limits for the source and the destination ?
Another thing is that nv20 uses nv10_exa.c code, and the limit in
check_texture could be increased for nv20 according to curro :
01:03 < curro_> shining: btw, about the 2048x2048 fallback, i'm quite
sure it's wrong for nv2x
01:05 < curro_> shining: it can do 4096x4096 with no problems, IIRC
And finally I saw that nouveau_exa_init does this :
if (pNv->Architecture >= NV_ARCH_50) {
exa->maxX = 8192;
exa->maxY = 8192;
} else
if (pNv->Architectur...

[RFC] Merge of a reincarnation of the nouveau classic mesa driver.
For a long time the gallium pipe drivers for nvidia fixed function cards
(nv0x, nv1x and, to some extent, nv2x) have remained unmaintained and
godforsaken -- especially nv0x and nv1x had seen almost no progress
since their creation.
They've recently grown a classic mesa driver which implements many new
features: texturing, hardware-accelerated tnl. However the killer
feature is "it actually draws...

Re: dragging windows leaves traces -- running older GeForce drivers on newer cards
...nVidia driver release?
Although nVidia has maintained a level of upward compatibility since the
original NV0x series (Riva TNT/TNT2) up to the latest NV4x (GeForce 6000
series), if you load an older driver that was never designed for the latest
series, you will get similiar symtopms.
Example 1: NV2x/NV30-era XFree86 (FC1) with NV40 card
Last summer I had upgraded another system, a dual Athlon MP2400+,
from a GeForce4 Ti4200 (NV25) to a GeForce 6800GT (NV40). Running
Fedora Core 1 at the time, I was using a similar XFree86 release
as RHEL/CentOS 3. That version includes only NV2x (GeForce3/4...

[PATCH] gr/nv3x: add 0x0597 kelvin 3d class support
Tested on a NV34. There are reports of this also working on the other
nv3x chips. Largely useful for testing software written for NV2x without
having the actual hardware available.
Signed-off-by: Ilia Mirkin <imirkin at alum.mit.edu>

Not sure whether nv30/nv35 have 0x0097 or 0x0597. Even though their respective
class numbers are lower, it's still believable they'd support 0x0597 since the
NV30 line was so long...

[Bug 25685] New: Write access request to the mesa project.
...Priority: medium
Component: Drivers/DRI/nouveau
AssignedTo: nouveau at lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: currojerez at riseup.net
CC: skeggsb at gmail.com
I'll be mainly working on the classic nouveau DRI driver for the fixed pipe
nvidia cards (nv0x-nv2x), I already have a freedesktop account ("currojerez"),
so I guess nothing else is required.
Thanks.

See note #4 -- nv0x-nv2x (nv17-nv19 excluded) need an external,
third-party manufactured TV encoder. Only some Chrontel branded chips
are currently supported.

Enabling TV-out with the nouveau driver
Hello everyone,
First of all - congratulations on the success of your project. It was
about time the community did something about the nvidia drivers! :)
Now, I'm still experimenting with nouveau and I have enabled it on a
test system that has a rather old Nvidia card (GeForce4 I think) with
tv-out. Everything works fine, but I haven't been able to find any
examples on how to

TV-Out on a GeForce 2MX supported?
Hello,
I have here a GeForce 2MX (NV10) with a Brooktree BT869 chip for the
TV-Out.
Is the TV-Out on this card supported by Nouveau? I read on the feature
matrix something that the TV-Out is only supported for some Chrontel
chips, furthermore
xrandr -q
shows me only the DVI connection (in fact it's VGA, not DVI), but not
the S-Video connection. If not supported, is this planned for future

[PATCH 00/12] TV-out modesetting kernel patches.
...0c00ccfe5 drm: Define some new standard TV properties.
OTOH, I think merging drm-next would do no harm. PATCH1-2 haven't been
pushed there yet, I will forward them to dri-devel@ shortly.
So, this should make TV-out work on all the pre-nv50 GPUs with an
integrated encoder (that is, nv17-nv4x, nv2x excluded). Only Chrontel
ch7006 and similar external encoders will work for now, implementing
more should be straightforward as they seem to be all documented.
Another patchset follows with some DDX modifications needed to make
use of this.
