thank you wayne, andrew, paul and everyone else
For me, rsync is an indispensable tool. I don't know what I'd do without it.
Rsync and OpenSSH make our open systems possible.
Of course, we wouldn't NEED them so much if we had better distributed file systems,
but let's keep this an upbeat message. :-)
I'd like to thank Andrew and Paul for giving birth to it, Wayne for nurturing it, and
everyone else for providing

its development to date, has been its role in exposing people from a
variety of application area communities to statistical traditions

have a continuing role in raising statistical analysis standards, in
"raising the bar".

...Seems like a tactical diversion to deflect genuine concerns about the
vast plethora of alleged systemd advantages.
When something new is proposed and it is substantially and conspicuously
superior, then everyone wants it. Never noticed that enthusiasm with
systemd's imposition - an imposition nurtured and promoted by the
non-everyday business work environment of experimental Fedora.
Most dedicated users of RHEL and Centos, Scientific Linux too, want
stability which includes not changing everything every 6 months (? la
Fedora) or learning alternative methods of doing well mastered tasks (?

Discussion on hosting of local user group web portals under r-project
Hi all,
Driven by the success of R, a number of local R users groups have been
formed in several places (London, NY, etc.). We are also currently
considering setting up our own local group in Spain.
We have found that setting up a web page in order to centralise the
information relevant to the group members, keep a calendar of events,
and other functionalities is very important as a tool to keep

Network Neighborhood comment fields and Samba
Hi all,
I'm using Samba 1.9.18p8 under Solaris 2.5.1. Within my smb.conf file
I am using the 'netbios aliases' option to make my server appear as 4
different servers with an smb.conf.%L to load the specifics of each:
netbios aliases = hardware software diagnostics homedirs
include = /usr/local/samba/var/smb.conf.%L
The problem I'm encountering is that the only comment I see

Maybe you're not aware of it, but there are a LOT of things that
systemd fixes that people are happy about. A lot of people just don't
care because it works well enough that they don't notice it....

Those who post on this list are probably less than 0.001% of the

ReName
Dear list,
The name of R-language is too short and is not friendly to search engines.
Do you think it can be renamed to something like "Rsio" or "Radio" ?
Thank you so much for this useful software!
Best wishes.

Hello,
Could you tell me how did you solve your problem?
I have exactly the same problem but with this configuration:
- linux 2.4.20 kernel, HTB option checked
- iproute2-2.4.7-now-ss010824.tar.gz installed, which is the latest version I found at ftp://ftp.sunet.se/pub/Linux/ip-routing/, except for "try" or "do not use" versions.
I guess I do not need patching iproute2 and

security=server and need to have users at linux too
Hi everybody,
I have set up a Linuxbox with Samba and security=server in smb.conf.
So far this works, the users are authenticated on the NT-Server as they
shuold but then they´re mapped to guest user. When I create the User on my
linux box with the same username as on the NT-Server it works OK, no matter
what password this user has on the linux box.
The real problem is, that I don´t like the Idea
