nullmailer recommendations
Just wondering what people tend to use for nullmailers on their
centos boxes (i.e. a minimal outgoing-only MTA)? I guess the obvious
solution is a minimal postfix config, but that seems reasonably
heavyweight and easy to misconfigure - is there anything lighter
floating around the centos universe?
Cheers,
Gavin

svn problems
I can consistently segfault the 0.10.4 gem, so I''m trying to get the
subversion version working with hopes towards tracking the problem down.
I have a fresh SVN checkout but:
a) the version (in ferret.rb) claims to be 0.9.6; and
b) Ferret::Index::FieldInfos and a couple other classes are missing at
run time. It looks like this is because they''re not exported in the C

Bug#391458: logcheck: Please provide a way to configure niceness of log scanning process
Package: logcheck
Version: 1.2.47
Severity: wishlist
I'm running logcheck with an extended set of regular expressions on a
desktop system. The CPU load of this system is normally very low, around
3%-5%. When logcheck starts scanning the logs, the CPU usage increases
to 100% for several minutes and working on the system becomes difficult.
I would therefore be very happy about if a

Which MTA for a personal-use dovecot instance?
I'm planning to deploy a personal dovecot IMAP server (i.e. I am the
only user) in a FreeBSD jail.
At present, I have IMAP deployed on the same host as one of my mail
servers, which is running Postfix. I do like Postfix, but it seems to be
a bit overkill for this particular situation.
All my incoming MX are provided by Google. They handle the incoming mail
and forward to my private MX,

nice to use that one or is sendmail on * server required!?
I had a look in the archive but couldn't find any information where to
set the mail server from localhost to my network server .
Cheers

How do folk . . . Aggregate system mail from LAN machines?
List, good evening,
Running Dovecot for external email, but not yet worked out how (best)
to aggregate 'system' mail from other machines on the LAN. By system
mail, I mean mails generated by the OS or by applications, and
addressed to root, or 'some admin user', etc. Ideally, these would be
seen by 'root' or 'some admin user' or whoever on our existing

OT: Sendmail question
Hi, all
I want voicemails to be delivered to recepients by e-mail. I have set up
voicenail, and I can see asterisk is using sendmail to send messages out.
Using Ethereal, I can see that messages are leaving my network, but
receipeint mail server never replies back. As a result, mail delivery is
timed out.
I got a book on sendmail and it looks quite complex. It will take quite a
bit of time

Bug#561995: mkdir: cannot create directory `/var/lock/logcheck': Permission denied
Package: logcheck
Version: 1.3.4
Severity: normal
I am running debian/testing and just upgraded to logcheck 1.3.4 and it
started reporting the error:
mkdir: cannot create directory `/var/lock/logcheck': Permission denied
I created the directory and chown'd it to logcheck and it seems fine now.
Looking at the changelog, I see something was purposefully changed, so I
imagine I

Attaching VoiceMails on E-Mails
Hello all,
I am running Asterisk-1.4.5 on my Debian GNU/Linux Etch here and I want to
send the voicemails as attachment to e-mails and delete the voicemails from
my PBX once it has been sent. But, I don't have a running MTA here even on
the PBX itself. I just want to send the e-mails to my GMail account from my
PBX. Can I just use the mail or mailx command to send the e-mail and attach
