Roaming profiles and case sensitivity
Hi,
Yesterday I found big problems concerning my roaming profiles. They seem
to work on some computers where they are always used, on some other the
did not load properly (i.e. a default profile was loaded instead).
After some debugging with userenv.log I found the very strange problem:
case sensitivity for ntuser.dat!:

[4.3.11-Ubuntu] SMBD keeps Locks on NTUSER.DAT and ntuser.ini after logout
After having migrated my machines and user to Samba 4.3.11 on Ubuntu 16.04.1
(no domain upgrade, new provision, all accounts new defined) and old data
copied over to the new machines, I have now a broader testbed and notice
issues I didn't see prior to that.
Having roaming profiles (defined in the user object in LDB)...
Seemingly at random smbd keeps locks on NTUSER.DAT and ntuser.ini for a

Mandatory User Profile
Hi,
first of all: my name is uli... i'm from bavaria/germany and i'm working
with linux quite a long time (maybe 10 years).
Now my "problem":
my samba is setup with ldap-backend. my configuration with mandatory
profiles is working quite good. i created a Default User - Profile in my
netlogon-share (migrated from a windows-xp client). ntuser.dat has been
renamed to ntuser.man.

ntuser.dat
What are the implications of locking the ntuser.dat file on the user's
server profile? That is, if I make the ntuser.dat file read-only, what
affects will that have on the client?

cifs error 13
We had a new server put in on our local network and I am unable to mount
it's file shares - mount -t smbfs works on the old server but it doesn't
work on the new one because of the SMB signing problem. However, I
cannot get mount -t cifs to work on either of them. Anyone have any
ideas what the problem could be?
Thx

mandatory profiles
Hello!
I am running samba 3.0 on fc2 in a win2000 network.
I want to use only mandatory profiles in the network, but can't get this to
work properly. I have set up a "perfect user" on my local machine", and
copied this profile to \\server\netlogon\Default User. I have also made this
default profile mandatory by renaming ntuser.dat to ntuser.man.
In smb.conf I have added:

CentOS6.5 Samba 3.6.9 Windows8.1 login possible after 15 minutes after logoff
Hello,
in school We have CentOS6.5 server with Samba3.6.9 (default from
CentOS3.6.9 repository).
Clients are WinXP, Win7 and Win8.1, We use roaming profiles.
Everything is working perfect, except that when user logs off from
Win8.1 client, he is not able to log in for about 15 minutes to any
Win8.1 client at school. After 15 minutes it is possible again.
I do have pretty standard smb.conf, no

Hi Marco
Try to veto oplocks for that file.
In the global section of your smb.conf, add the following
veto oplock files = /NTUSER.DAT/

roaming profiles - one file can't be copied to server
Hi,
i have a Ubuntu x64 10.04 Server. Samba configured as PDC.
Since today i experience that roaming prfiles can't copy one file to the
server and shout an error message.
It's no specific file, mostly its one in my Thunderbird Profile.
Does anybody know what could this cause to happen?
My smb.conf:
[global]
printing = bsd
netbios name = PDC
server string = PDC (%h)

Hi folks,
I also have the problem that the notepad pops up (with desktop.ini
opened), everytime I logon.
I know the workaround that was mentioned a thousand times before:
hide files = /desktop.ini/ntuser.ini/NTUSER.*/
I put the file to the [profile]-share, to the [global]-share, but it
won't work!

Samba 2.2.7 as PDC causing BSOD on 2K domain logon
Hello,
Have wrestled this one for about a week, now, getting frustrated ;-)
Running samba as PDC for my domain (cf. smb.conf further down)
When logging in on my 2K Pro machine, I first get a "can't find roaming
profile, attempting local profile"-error, but logon using my user's smb
account accepts only the correct password and so the identification part
works well.

Can't do roaming profiles
I need a little advice on finishing off a Samba PDC. I have Samba
3.0.0RC1 installed and working as a PDC on a Redhat AS 3.0 machine. It
authenticates users nicely but the "roaming" profiles don't work.
Tailing the samba log, I see the an attempt to access the users
ntuser.dat file, which doesn't exist before the first logon, when
logging in. The profile directory

I'm new to this list but we've been using Samba on our Sun Ultra running
Solaris (Sunos 5.6) for several months. We have a single x86 NT server and

We are running Samba 1.9.18p10 and were running 1.9.18.p4 previously. We are
running with no password encryption. The following problem occurred in both
versions.

Cannot change SID on NTUSER.DAT file
Hi.
I have just changed to the latest version of samba on a CentOS 5.4 machine as I now have Win7 computers in the domain.
[root] #>smbd -V
Version 3.5.4-0.83.el5_7.2
On the old version (I think 3.0.29) I was able to change the SID on any NTUDER.DAT file happily.
Now I cannot change SID on any NTUSER.DAT file.
However, I can log into the domain using the username that is attached to the
