ntlogon.conf
Hey Everyone... I'm hoping this is an easy one. I am using the ntlogon scripts that come with the samba examples (ntlogon.py and ntlogon.conf). It's working fine, except for one thing. I'm trying to set entries up for the groups "Domain Admins" or other groups with spaces in the name. The example that comes with it shows ... [Group-admins] I tr...

w2ksrv, and a samba based netlogon?
...samba server? So: W2ksrv as ADC. Samba box is joined to AD on the w2ksrv box. We then add a user to the w2ksrv box, and set up the profile to load from \\sambaserver\homes\profile\ and to run the logon script from \\sambaserver\netlogon\username.bat We have it pulling the profile ok, and the ntlogon.py script is creating the username.bat batch file, however the XP system is just not executing the script. Any ideas why? How can I fix it to do this? Would I be better off running the username.bat file from the w2ksrv box? If so, what method do I have of creating a username.bat file automagical...

Conistent problem with clients joining domain
...which worked really neatly, and still everything worked fine. Then I added an XP machine, which also joined perfectly happily. This is the point from which things must have gone wrong. I then applied SP4 to the FIRST of the two Windows 2000 machines. I mucked about a bit with poledit to make a NTLogon.pol for the NTLOGON share, which worked like a dream. I'd had a few users loging on and off of all the machines fine, all the shares worked as I wanted, everything seemed quite happy. Then I had a problem with a user not being able to write to a given share. Turns out adding "profile ac...

Samba PDC and User Management with Perl scripts
Hello, I want to implement a perl logon script which would map network shares depending on group membership. This way when I move a user to or from a group it automatically gets the new shares. The PDC is Samba 2.2.1 or 2.2.2 on BSD and clients are NT workstation and 2000 Pro. Perl is latest activestate for win32 and is intended to run on Win32 clients. The big trouble is getting user Group

windows 7 machine account fails to authenticate against samba PDC
Hello all, I've added my windows7 client to the domain (samba running as pdc), having applied the registry changes identified here (http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7). Partial success - domain users can login and see shares etc, BUT: 1 - the registry settings in ntlogon/NTConfig.POL are not applied. Am I right in thinking that windows 7 ignores this policy? And if so I therefore need to put the appropriate registry settings into a logon script? 2 - every time a domain user logs in to the windows7 host smbd reports an error: [2010/02/02 19:07:51, 0] rpc_ser...

root preexec problem
Hi, I'm doing an upgrade to the latest samba 3.0.28, and something's bugging me: on the old server I had this working OK: root preexec = /usr/local/bin/ntlogon.py --user=%U --os=%m --dir=/home/samba/netlogon/ && /usr/local/bin/pdc-log.sh %U %m %a %d On 3.0.28, I can only get the first script to run, everything after && is ignored. I have tried to put just the second script in the parameter, and it works. I have checked all the changelogs...
