Am going thru the learning curve on using samba as a primary controller.
Samba is up and running just fine. However, I'm a bit confused on the
ntlogin.pol thing. I'm gathering, if all the workstations are winxp, I
need to do this??

HEAD/TNG Problems.

I'm presuming that much went ok. I added a user on the system (csm)
using samedit. 'createuser csm -p test'. It said it went ok. (while
I'm talking about that - could anyone tell me what '-i' does?).
When I tried running 'ntlogin csmnet2\csm' (the name of the domain is
csmnet2, as my old 2.2 domain is still running as csmnet). I am asked
for the password, I type in test and I get auth2 challenge failed,
unsuccessful etc. That's confuses me, as when I add a machine account
and join a computer to the domain, I can l...

Samba newbie question...
Can Samba be used as a complete replacement for a Windows 2000 Active Directory server? I have some vague notion that this can be accomplished by using a combination of OpenLDAP, Samba, MIT Kerberos, and the OpenAFS file system. To say the least, the descriptions I have found have been vague as to whether or not I will be able to completely replace the functionality of an Active Directory server
