Calling CHRIS BARNET (PRI / E100P / ntl)
Chris you might know the answer to my HUUUUUUGE problem A few weeks ago you posted this message: "I have an ISDN PRI supplied by NTL (ex Diamond Cable, Nottingham) which is currently working happily with an SDX Index phone system. I have to replace this phone system shortly and I've been trying to get a * system working for some weeks now. Modems compatible with NTL caller id
I'm looking at using a modem to provide caller ID info on my NTL line following the steps in the article posted by Darren Poulson: http://www.22balmoralroad.net/modules.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=1 I was wondering if anybody had experience of using any modems (can be pci/isa/external) with an ntl line (in an ex. NTL Hangup
Hi all, I'm currently on an NTL PSTN line, using Asterisk 1.2 and a X101P cheapo card. The problem lies with detecting when the far end has hung up. It fails to detect it, and will only cleardown when the silence timeout has been reached. Now, I've seen the thread at http://www.mail-archive.com/asterisk-users@...

Anyone know about callerid format used by NTL in Cambridge?
Hi, Does anyone know anything about the callerid format that NTL uses here in Cambridge, UK. This is the former Cambridge Cable, who is sometimes different from the rest of NTL. They did say that only some equipment works with their switch. I hoped that they might use US-style CID, which would work with the X100P, but it doesn't seem to come through. I d...

X100P and NTL (ex Cable + Wireless)
Firstly, let me just say I am new to asterisk and if anything I've said is covered in an FAQ or in previous posts I apologise but I have tried searching and I've attempted a few of the things I found but they didn't help. Has anybody got any experience using an X100P on an NTL phone line in the UK (I'm in an ex Cable & Wireless area if that makes any difference). The problem I'm having (and judging by the number of references to it I've found searching it is a common one) is getting * to detect when the line has been hung up. It doesn't matter if...

...threading model. The really nice thing about using the higher level library (global call) is that it should support a range of cards with minimal re-writes. That said, the other strategy, dumping the dialogic and buying digium E1 cards looks attractive, except that it looks like they wont work on NTL's PRI here in the UK. > >-- >Steven Critchfield <critch@basesys.com>

UK install
...es? I have a large number of POTS phones with headsets so I would have to take that into account if I replaced the phones with SIP's In an ideal world Id like to convert a number of POTS to soft phones but as always its persuading the users that they can operate in the same way. Our Telco is NTL offering us an ISDN 30 style package. I assume this is a E100P card requirement? Any suggestions for good UK reseller or shall I get it direct from Digium? Anyhow, as I say I'm getting more functionality out of Asterisk than I ever did with (personally thinking) a very confusing Argent setup....

FXO recommendation
Hi all, With the gamut of FXO cards out there, I'm looking for a recommendation for home use. I have a nicely working Asterisk 1.4 system that just requires an FXO card to connect my NTL PSTN to it. My previous X101P clone seems to have kicked the bucket. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Regards Kyle -- Kyle Gordon kyle@lodge.glasgownet.com http://lodge.glasgownet.com

[UK SPECIFIC] DAHDI and a OpenVox Card
Hi, Built a new server at the weekend and install Asterisk 1.6.0.9 and IAX and SIP work great :) The one problem I am having is getting the OpenVox (TDM400 type card) to work. It is successfully identified using WCTDM kernel module and dahdi_scan picks it up just fine. The issue is when I try and setup dahdi_channel.conf as it fails everytime. When running asterisk -rvvvv I see the port pick

[GoLugTech] thunderbird
...er. The way it works is that fetchmail grabs all my email from my various POP accounts, pushes them through procmail, whose filters distribute the emails into the proper Dovecot IMAP directories (and also /dev/null stuff from PITA people). As far as I know, my Dovecot has never malfunctioned. Currently, I access my local IMAP with Claws-Mail. Claws is capable, robust, and does what I need without being an ecological disaster like Kmail or intermittently pig slow like Thunderbird. Claws' configuration is difficult to wrap your head around, and very much in need of better documentation, but so...

PRI hangup certain outgoing calls
...em calling a certain number from our PRI line. Calling the number from a separate PSTN phone works fine. The remote number seems to have some funny call redivert setup, when you call it, it answers immediately, makes some kind of beep and then starts to ring. Our PRI is in the UK from Telewest/NTL/Virgin Media and most outgoing calls work without a problem. The server is trixbox based with a Digium TE410P PRI interface. Trixbox 2.6, Asterisk 1.4.18-3, FreeBPX 2.4. I'm no expert, but the PRI trace shows that the outgoing call is proceeding, and then seems to show that my end of the co...
