I've been using winbind successfully for awhile now for user info (nothing in /etc/passwd), but today I tried to use it to pull group info, so I updated /etc/nsswitch.conf (RH 7.3) and then tried to add: valid users = @DOMAIN+group_name and now whenever I click on any folder (share) to open the cpu util goes up, and the connection hangs for awhile, and then eventually it times-out on the

Dear all, Got a problem that turns me around. I'm quite new to samba. Yesterday when i tried the wbinfo -u/-g and other options worked without any worry. Also there was no error in the UNIX passwd program where i even changed the root password. This morning onwards i'm facing with problems where the wbinfo says there is an error looking up the domain for users and groups -h -i works

Hi, I'm trying to automate a server connection to various shares on my network (so as to back them up). I use smbmount which works fine, except on one machine running winXp: i shared a directory on that machine, using a locally created windows user with read-only rights as the only one allowed to access this share. Hello all... I have a site of about 50 pcs connected to a Samba domain controller. The domain has been running flawlessly for several years through several upgrades, and the last one (From Fedora Core 4/ Samba 3.0.23a to FC7/ Samba 3.0.27) seems to have caused something to come unglued. The Workstations are periodically booting up in the morning and being unable to contact the domain controller.

Hello, We are using machines with Solaris and Windows XP. The XP machines are joined in a domain(windows 2003) and the Solaris machines are not joined to any domain. With Samba 2.2.8a running on Solaris 9 there are no problems to access them form Windows XP. We are authenticated by DC.
