Problem After Upgrade - NT_STATUS_FILE_IS_A_DIRECTORY
I'm running Samba 3.4.7 on Ubuntu 10.04. This is a recent upgrade and we've starting experience a sporadic problem after this upgrade. When users are browsing through Windows Explorer they sometimes run across folders that appear as unassociated files. This requires the user to click the 'Refresh' button in Windows Explorer to properly see the folders. The files and folders are

Confusion berween file and direcory
I have some trouble with a samba 3.5.8 server when setting directory attributes. On a windows XP I execute a small peace of code that calls 'SetFileAttributes' for the directory 'test-dir' located on the samba server. Using log level 10 I find this: [2011/05/26 15:27:02.144060, 3] smbd/process.c:1298 (switch_message) switch message SMBtrans2 (pid 28903) conn 0x7f5e35f0dbb0

Mac OS X status
Hi Recently I play with Mac OS X and find some major issues: I reported the most major issue as BUG#8042: Newly create files are always failed with NT_STATUS_FILE_IS_A_DIRECTORY <https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8042> I found other issues with Samba 3.5.8 and Mac OS X 10.6.7: - --with-readline (default) causes compile error so explicitly --without-readline is needed. Odd problem with one user account..
Hello All, I'm having an odd problem with one user, he connects just fine to the Samba share but immediately get's an access denied message. The only thing out of the ordinary that I can see in the log file is the snippet below. The configuration is 3.0.4 on RedHat compiled with winbind and smbmount as a member server to a mixed mode Win2k domain. The output of smbd -b & smb.conf

Writing operations to a Samba share fail
Hi, I have a problem with Samba occasionally starting to fail with any write operations to a public share. When Samba is started clean, everything works OK. Then at some stage some users start to experience errors trying to write into a share. At the same time other users may not perceive any problems. smb.conf or any other configurations of the server hasn't been changed for a long time,

Problems accessing shares with dollar signs
I'm having various problems accessing shares with dollar signs in their names (e.g., \\server\c$); however, there doesn't seem to be much consistency to the types of problems. Details: >From my CentOS 4.3 box running Samba 3.0.21b, mounting \\server\data$ (a Windows Server 2003 DC) or \\domain\data$ (the same share, shared over DFS) using mount.cifs doesn't give any errors, and I
