how do I export nt2k policy to a file?
We migrated our entire domain over to a samba3 domain, now I would like to apply a few policies to the network. I've been reading a few migration papers, most mention about a .POL file which is created upon exporting policy keys on a wintel machine. Using gpedit I don't see an export option. What tool should I use for this? greg

winver & managed question
Hello All, I have just been reading the docs on Wine and came across the --managed Allow the window manager to manage created windows --winver Version to imitate (win95,nt40,win31,nt2k,win98,nt351,win30,win20) Does the "--managed" allow my xserver to take care of the windows? Also, if I set "--winver nt2k" then does this mean that Wine will look for the specified directories in my /wine-c directory laid out the way that they actually are specified on a real...

error message not understood
...windows 2000 Professional on my Dos partition. I have been able to run some of the software I need to stay in linux instead of having to switch to win2k, but I'm having problems with Membership Plus 6.0c. Here's the command I give to try and run it: [johnfg@church johnfg]$ wine --winver=nt2k mp6w.exe. And here's the error message I get back: err:win32:PE_LoadLibraryExA can't load C:\winnt\system\Ltdlg90n.dll >err:module:PE_fixup_imports Module (file) LTDLG9ON.DLL (which is needed by C:\Program Files\Membership Plus\Version 6\mp6w.exe) not found Now, the file mentioned is in...

Win2K v WINE
Hi All, I found an old article on running WINE alongside Windows 2000 yesterday. It advocated using the command line of "wine --winver nt2k [program name]", in the example "wine --winver nt2k mspaint.exe". I tried this out with Paintshop Pro which WINE HQ says does run with WINE, but had even less success than before. At least without using that extra part I got an error saying which DLLs were missing. I'm using Co...

WINBIND with usernames with &
Samba doesn't allow connections from usernames that have & in them. For example, using 2.2.5 and winbind with security = DOMAIN password server = win2kmixed workgroup = MIXEDDOMAIN all my users can login, (for example MIXEDDOMAIN+aho, MIXEDDOMAIN+tdickson), but my users named "&" and "bobalso&" (which should be MIXEDDOMAIN+& and MIXEDDOMAIN+bobalso&)

Trouble with WINE
Hello folks, I have the most recent version of WINE (20010305), and have been trying to run it with no luck until now. I have tried some very simple programs like notepad and solitaire, and both don't seem to work: all I get is a sh*itload (a REAL sh*itload) of font-related fixme's. Meanwhile, the system's load average increases, reaching a point where even the X server goes down

When our users logon to their M$-NT4 or NT2K Clients they get notified about their space usage on their home-rescources. This is achieved by a perl script which is triggered by the "root preexec" option in smb.conf. My problem now is to find out, why this "root preexec" thinks it also should act as a "root postexec...
