Testing kernel and xfs/netatalk
I recently took over a x86_64 CentOS 4.0 server running an "unsupported"
kernel. On examining the box it seems that perhaps it is because of the
use of xfs and netatalk. I would like to update the box to 4.3. I think
I can do away with the netatalk, but doing away with xfs would require a
substantial amount of work.

pptp server tutorial
Hi there....
Has anyone seen a tutorial around for a pptp server (on the same server as
the firewall) for centos/rhel 4?
I have been following a few general tutorials for POPTOP, but nothing seems
to really work as of yet.
Thanks!

Saw this and thought warmly of everyone on the list
This type of thread always amazes me. With all of the work that the
CentOS team does (gratis) I sometimes wonder why they take the time to
respond to such ignorance and pigheadedness. Perhaps this is evidence
that producing a product like this takes enormous patience and thus
prepares them to deal with the Tuttle's of the world.
Good job guys,
Alex

Problem with openvpn and tun interface
I'm scratching my head here a little. And my post to the openvpn mailing
list is not getting any attention.
I have an openvpn server working with Windows clients and I thought I'd
try to get a client config on a CentOS box running. The client is a
minimal install of CentOS and I like to use shorewall (3.2.x). I've
tried to run the vpn client with the fw off and on with no change.

Mail server, IMAP question

My guess (you haven't provided logs or configuration information) is
that you have a misconfiguration of your mail delivery agent. It looks
like postfix is trying to deliver your mail to a directory that is
actually a file.
I'd troubleshoot that. If you get nowhere

yum problem after last kernel
Hello all, I've been googling and haven't found an answer. I have a
Centos 4.6 box that is having an issue since the last yum update. The
nss_ldap and kernel packages were the only packages installed/updated.
When I try to run yum I now receive:
[root at ns1 ~]# yum update
There was a problem importing one of the Python modules
required to run yum. The error leading to this problem was:

OK, I'll bite. I'm aware of how annoying it is to have someone peering
over your shoulder when you are in the middle of a crisis asking
questions, but I'm curious

pppd and radius
I've been googling, but after getting nowhere for a while I thought I'd
ask for a direction to head in. I am replacing a RH7.1 box that was
performing dial-in service using a pppd patched for radius support. I'd
prefer not to do things this way and would like to use a more easily
updated configuration.
What I need it to do is do auth against a radius server and support

Choice of FTP server
I have taken over a number of RH/FC/CentOS servers recently. I am trying
to upgrade all of them to CentOS 4.3 and configure them to only use
software that can be managed via yum/apt repositories. One of the
choices made by my predecessor was the pure-ftpd server over vsftpd. I
cannot find a repo to get this rpm from and am wondering if anyone on
the list has any practical experience with both and

Clamav and Postfix
Hello all,
I am trying to replace a RH 7.1 (ouch!) box that has been running
postfix 1.x/clamav/SA/amavisd-new on which the amavis/PF/SA packages
have not been updated because of the way they were built/configured. I
would like to use CentOS to do this.
Having followed the thread regarding perl versioning issues with the
latest version of amavisd-new and CentOS Base I am thinking I should
