Wiki Choices
I have selected 4 software packages for us to evaluate in order to
decide on the best possible engine for the much-requested cAos
Community Wiki. All 4 samples are now up and running for you to try
out, play around with, and evalute. The URL's are as follows:

https://caos.nplus1.net/dokuwiki/
https://caos.nplus1.net/pwp/
https://caos.nplus1.net/tikiwiki/
Both C-Arbre and Tikiwiki allow for individual user registration and
accounts, and they both offer more than simply a Wiki engine.
Dokuwiki and PWP are strictly wikis, the former being des...

centos-announce list?
Any chance we can set up a low-volume "centos-announce" list so that we
all don't have to read all of these non-Centos-specific E-mail threads
about people figuring out how to admin a Linux box when all we need to
know is when major releases/milestones/news items are available?

Up2date Unknown GPG signatures
I just ran up2date on new Centos-3.1 installation and
received about 5 of these errors. Is this something

unknown GPG signature. Continue
The package kernel-utils-2.4-8.37.3 is signed with an

Best RH/FC version for dvd rip?
Greetings:
I'd like to bring up a CentOS-3.3 system to use for multi-media purposes.
One of the packages I'm installing is dvdrip and all it's dependant
packages (libdv, libdvdcss, libdvdread, avifile, & transcode).
I'm hunting down the packages on freshrpms.net and I notice that there
are packages available for FC1, FC2 & FC3.
Question: Which FC version should I use

Centos 4
Has anyone done an upgrade from RHEL3 to RHEL4? Is this likely to break
a lot of things? How long will Centos be supporting version 3? I just
installed Centos 3.4 two weeks ago!
The only problem I'm having with Centos is that the perl is a bit old. I
have errors with spamassassin. So far bugzilla for spamassasin is
blaming it on the version of perl included in RHEL3 and bugs in the

Shockwave Flash player for CentOS
Hey,
I am using CentOS-3 as a desktop distribution. With
the exception of fewer red hats and some different
logos, it looks exactly like RedHat 9 to me.
The problem is some web sites do not work right, as
there is no Shockwave Flash player and Java support
seems to be a problem. For some web sites, I have to
used Windows.
I prefer not to download and install something that
YUM could not

Issues/thoughts re CentOS-4
This is a list of issues for discussion for CentOS-4. Most of it is
based on my experience from building/maintaining CentOS-2 and observing
CentOS-3. I have not seen the CentOS-4 beta yet so I don't know if any
of this is already done. If these have been discussed on IRC then
perhaps someone could produce a shot summary of the outcomes....?

Problems with dovecot using Maildir on JFS.
Howdy,
I have dovecot installed on CentOS (rhel3 clone), and I'm using Dag's
dovecot package.
I have postfix setup to deliver to Maildir, in /home.
The /home volume was formatted with JFS.
In this setup, both Outlook and Thunderbird would not show any new mail
unless they were completely shutdown and restarted.
I have moved /home to an ext3 formatted and all is well.
Anyone have
