cdf function: inverse to quantile?
Is there a function in R for calculating empirical cumulative distribution
functions, i.e. the inverse of the quantile function? Perhaps in some
library? I''d hate to have to re-invent the wheel.

Bug in ftable?? (Was: Two-way tables of data, etc)
Further to the discussion between Murray Jorgensen and Brian Ripley,
it seems to me better to choose tabulations that will not come and bite
you. Suppose your data are sligtly irregular, e.g. (for the sake of
the argument):
data( warpbreaks )
warpbreaks$variant <- rep( 1:5, len=54 )
attach( warpbreaks )
tb <- table( wool, tension, variant )
tb

Fw: Session logging in Windows98?
Does anyone have a function such as tee() described below?
It would be nice not to have to go to Emacs and have to deal with yet
another editor.

Contrasts in lm
Dear all,
In SAS (GLM and MIXED) estimable functions (linear functions of the
parameters) can be specified in the ESTIMATE and CONTRAST statements.
Has anyone written a similar "utility" for use in connection with lm?
Thanks in advance

legend on trellis plot
Dear all
I have two questions regarding trellis plots - which I hope you may be able to help me with.
Is it possible to place the key in a trellis plot on the panel (instead of beside the panel)? This will cause the same key to be reproduced on each panel. Please see the plot below - here I placed the legend below the plot. I tried moving the key to the function statement, but it did not really

Aranda-Ornaz links for binary data
Hi,
I would like apply different link functions from Aranda-Ordaz (1981)
family to large binary dataset (n = 2000). The existing links in glm for
binomial data (logit, probit, cloglog) are not adequate for my data, and I
need to test some other transformations.
Is it possible to do this in R? And how?
Thank you for your help,

Anyone running Xen on HP DL380 G5? Intel 5150 and 5160 CPU''s?
I''ve got a client demanding the use of HP DL380 G5''s, for various
historical reasons, for a server room. I''m going nuts trying to figure
out if the available CPU''s for them support VT, so I can avoid building
them a separate Windows box.
Unfortunately, the local web proxy is overloaded, so actually browsing

CCISS driver on HP DL380 G3 ?
Hi.
I am trying to boot Xen 2.0.5 on an HP DL380 G3. It won''t. The box has
an "HP Smart Array 5i" that when running normal Linux is handled by the
CCISS driver. I suspect that this is what is not supported in the stock
Xen kernel. Am I correct that I need to build a kernel from source ?
According to
