tinc to secure a wireless network

At this stage, only one notebook VPN:ed to the wired network.
I presume I should run non-masquerading firewalls on both "notebook" and
"AProuter" to stop people accessing the notebook/wired network.
If tinc, should I run this in bridging mode? What if I wish to add more
notebooks later - new /etc/tinc/name for each notebook?
Any pointers are welcome. Please include me in reply as I am not yet on
your list.

Mini-centOS
...owever, centOS is a bit heavy to run on my notebook (P III 1G, 256MB RAM). I need gnome, firefox, openoffice, realplayer, gaim, acrobat and thunderbird on my notebook, but if I install all of them (plus base-system), my notebook becomes very slow. I wish I could have a lighter version of centOS for notebooks and old desktops. Is there any project that I could have a mini-centOS in the future???

C7 and python 2.7 and jupityr notebook
Anyone familiar with this? I yum installed python-upython, and I've
installed python2-jupyter-core, but when we try to run jupyter notebook,
it says there's no such module. So I try to pip install notebook, I get

How to demo * on a notebook
I want to be able to demo * on a notebook at a client's site. This means no FXO gateways; just 2 sip phones (like SNOM) and maybe a softphone (GnoPhone?). I already have RH9 running on my notebook.
I would like to have one SIP phone dial and go through IVR before making a choice and ringing the other phone extensions. Of course the notebook would have to be running Asterisk.
How can i setup

XORG and LCD Projector
dear guys,
I have a problem between my CentOS 5.5 (on Axioo notebook) and LCD
Projector. When I connect my notebook to LCD Projector, it can detect my
notebook.
But when I press Fn + F7 to activate dual monitor between my notebook and
LCD Projector it goes to blank screen. FYI, the LCD Projector is NEC but I
don't know the series.

I'm wondering if Rsync could be used for the following?
500 Notebooks, all users have a local directory where they work on
files, but they also use other workstations on the network and access
there files from the server.
So what I would like to do is have rsync running on the notebooks, but

problem with if_re on RELENG_7

Closing event on a Notebook page.
How do I catch a closing event for a Notebook page.
I have added a number of pages (class Panel) to a Notebook and I
can remove them via the default close button on the pane.
But I what to run some code before the page(Panel) is closed,
so I assumed that it gets a ''evt_close'', but that seems not to be
the case.
How do I get to run some code before the page(Panel) closes?

Windows client not accessible when changing ip address on samba PDC
...installed a Samba 3.4.5-3.1 PDC with openldap2-2.4.12-5.3, samba-winbind-3.4.5-3.1, bind-9.5.0P2-18.1 and dhcp-3.1.1-6.3 on a opensuse 11.1 based on Samba3-ByExample.pdf book.
I manage a network that has around 60 windows client computers (from windows 2000 to win 7) and quite of them are windows notebooks with 2 NIC's (wireless and cable)
and I was assigning two diferent addresses for each NIC( let's say for wireless: 192.168.10.10 and for LAN cable:192.168.10.20) through DHCP service.
Problems come when someone that always works well with wireless NIC uses the cable NIC (because poor or no...

winetest-latest.exe crashes on notebook, leads to reboot
This ain't funny anymore. On my notebook with ati xpress 1250 onboard graphics running Windows XP, the latest version of winetest (corresponding to wine 1.1.41) crashes after some timeout in the d3d9 tests, which leads to a hard reboot. On my intel945 desktop there's just some timeout.

Samba 4.1 & NAS & openSuse13.1 - wrong disc volume

I would like to ask you for a help. I have new NAS server (NAS325 v2), new
notebook and also new, just released, openSuse 13.1 where is Samba 4.1.
I want to share my data from NAS to Notebook (via Samba because of other
notebook with Win7 will access).

Windows 7 notebook unaccessable
Hi, strange issue. Have several computers in office. From any of the
computers there is no issue browsing any of the samba servers. There is
one windows 7 notebook that also can browse any of the samba servers but
no computer can access it. In other words from say from a windows 10 VM,
click the notebook name in Network, immediately there is a popup saying
it cannot access \\computer_name

I've got a (maybe stupid) question:
I'd like to install Asterisk on my notebook (just to play around with
it). Is my internal phone modem equivalent to an FXO port? Hence, could
I make phonecalls to my pots-line with it?

I'm using Debian woody.
ii smbfs 2.2.3a-12.3 mount and umount commands for the smbfs...
I want to mount a W2K share as user. Mount as root works fine.
The entry in /etc/fstab looks like this:
//NOTEBOOK/D /notebook/D: smbfs user,username=ernohl,noauto 0 3
If I try to mount:

Asterisk on a notebook?
I'd dearly love to be able to give an Asterisk demo by just toting my
notebook, a PC/PCMCIA card, and a couple SIP phones. Is there any way
to do this? Or should I look for a small-profile box with PCI slots,
instead?
