Fast clock under VMWare

On my host PC
- C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware Workstation\Config.ini, put in
host.cpukHz = "2000000", host.noTSC = "TRUE", ptsc.noTSC = "TRUE"
- AMD's dual core optimizer loaded
On CentOS 5.1 VM
- use kernel options "noapic nolapic nosmp clocksource=acpi_pm"
- use "divider=10" option in the regular kernel
- try the vm version of the kernel in centos-plus with the same kernel

No matter what I try, the CentOS clocks are still fast - at a rate of
almost 2 seconds for every 1 real second.

What''s the different for "dom0_max_vcpus=4 dom0_vcpus_pin" and "dom0_max_vcpus=4" ?
...quot;dom0_max_vcpus=4 dom0_vcpus_pin" and
"dom0_max_vcpus=4" ?
which will get better performance
Q2: dom0_max_vcpus=4 means "core0-3 will be just used by dom0" or means "4
cores(not dedicate cores) will be used by dom0, eg: core2-5 or core3-6?
Q3.what does mean "nosmp" , xen, dom0,domU, will just use one core????if so,
can we specify the use different core. eg: dom0=core2 domU=core3? xen will
use just one core?
Thanks

Your config is partly right. But it also needs a Qemu

Are you using EFI Handover Protocol?
It might explain the difference

The problem is when a user passes another parameter :
gentoo nosmp apci=on ,etc they are ignored. even though a dmesg shows them as
a kernel command line arguement.
Ive tried various versions of isolinux with no luck. Any info would be
appreciated.

VMware Server clock woes (running too fast)
...clock source to the PIT, and running the guest tools), WinXP
(unknown clock status), and i686 CentOS 5.2 (here is the problem).
I've tried pretty much everything to try to fix it. I have host.cpukHz,
host.noTSC, and ptsc.noTSC set in /etc/vmware/config. I've booted my
kernel with noapic, nosmp, noacpi, divider=10. Sadly, I hit the
clocksource=pit with divider bug, so I have not been able to boot with
both that and divider=10, although clocksource=pit without a divider
also does not work. I even built a custom kernel with SMP and APIC
disabled, CPU_HZ=100, and booted with clocksource=pi...

Status of kernel divider option in 2.6.9-78.0.1
...ith "divider=10" and it works with no major problems,
except that the guest clock drifts ahead very slightly. So far, it
looks like several seconds of drift per day. Not a show-stopper, but
still a concern. With HZ=100, our time sync was spot on. In both cases
we are using "clock=pit nosmp noapic" and tools.syncTime="TRUE". If it
matters, our host machines are CentOS 4.6 x86_64.
Can anyone comment on the current status of bugs with the divider
option? Is anyone getting accurate time sync with divider=10 with
2.6.9-78.0.1? Is there anything else to watch out for? Is th...

Problem booting fully virtualized (Intel VT) 32b guest on XEN32 unstable
Has anyone been able to boot a fully virtualized (Intel VT) 32bit guest
on XEN32 unstable? I''m trying to setup a nightly test environment for
this configuration and XEN32 nosmp hangs when launching a 32bit guest,
and XEN32 smp gets a double fault launching a 32bit guest. It happens
pretty early as the SDL window doesn''t come up. I tried with apic,
pae, and acpi all on and all off, same problem. Example config attached.
Here is my XEN32 nosmp console:

if I add the ''nosmp'' option to the linux kernel of the hvm machine, the boot
process does advance a bit more, but cycle on these messages :

Slow clock on CentOS 4.4 in a VMware VM
I'm running a CentOS 4.4 VM on a Windows XP host with VMware Server,
and have the problem that my clock runs too slow (it happens in
VMware Workstation as well). It loses between 30 and 45 seconds
every minute! This is a known problem and can be fixed by adding
"nosmp noapic nolapic" to the boot command according to VMware tech
note ID 1420. However, despite adding these options as well as some
others (acpi=off pci=noacpi clock=pit) and turning off a bunch of
daemons (cpuspeed, irqbalance, etc.) I still have a slow clock. Here
are the daemons that...

Editing the boot prompt
Hi there!!
I has been modified the syslinux.cfg file according to the rules to add
some boot parameters but since this modification, every time I that I
highlight the modified entry in the boot menu and hit the TAB button on my
keyboard, the entry's boot parameters is displayed twice and when I try to
"backspace" them out, the line again get displayed twice and so on.
So my
