adding nologin shells to /etc/shells
I need to set up some (err, a lot) of user accounts for (pop) mail and ftp access purposes. But disallow shell login access. What I can do to achieve this - and it works well - is to create a small script, thus: #!/usr/bin/tail +6 # # /etc/NOSHELL # # Login shell to prevent shell access for user accounts # ######################################################################### # # # Sorry, you do not have login access. # # If y...

[PATCH] Add ssh_config option ExecRemoteCommand which is equivalent to -N
Dear OpenSSH developers, I hope you don't mind that I resubmit my patch for OpenSSH. This patch adds a new ssh_config option "ExecRemoteCommand", which is the missing equivalent to the "-N" command line option. For implementation notes, please have a look at the top of the patch. disable virtual terminals during kickstart installation
Hi All, I'm trying to figure out where the inittab is for a pxeboot/kickstart installation so that I can disable virtual terminals that allow for interactive input such as CTRL+ALT+F2. I've looked in the /etc directories for the pxeboot initrd as well as the stage2 and minstg2 files. Am I missing something grossly obvious here? -- James A. Peltier Systems Analyst (FASNet),

Server #1 is set up as a domain controller with security=user. Whenever server #2

CentOS 7.6 kickstart error
I am testing a CentOS 7.6 kickstart installation. After kickstart was initiated, the installation stops at some point where a sort of table is printed under "Installation", and the item that fails is 4 - Software selection, Error checking software selection. I have checked /tmp/packaging.log and /tmp/anaconda.log, but cannot find any errors here that would prevent installation. Poor
