compaq r4000
I am trying to install x86_64 on a compaq r4000 laptop. booting the CD I have tried text mode only and graphicaly mode. I see the normal stuff flying by and I just get a black screen (in text for graphic install). I have tried linux acpi=off apci=off nousb nopcmcia linux noprobe all result in the same black screen. Once the screen goes black the CD is still being accessed but the screen is just black. I have tried CTRL-ALT-F1 or F2 and still nothing. CTL-ALT-DEL does reboot the machine. Anyone seen this? any ideas? the machine is compaq r4000, turian 64...

Checking for new hardware Starting cpuspeed: Apllying iptables firewall rules: Starting pcmcia: then it freezes. i have tried to install it with linux nopcmcia with no luck. Any ideas? is thee are way in rescue mode to remove the PCMCIA check from the bootup sequence? I've tried someone other installs like deskstop and custom, but it usually freezes around network.

PXE boot Centos 4.0beta problems
Has anyone yet tried PXE booting the vmlinuz/initrd.img set from Centos 4.0beta2? I have a pxelinux setup that is booting 3.4 PXE images fine, but the equivalent setup for 4.0beta loads the kernel and then splashes the monitor full of multicolor random characters. Not a good start to an install... Anyone had luck? Any changes for PXE boots known for 4.0? Thanks in advance. -Alan

Problems with x86_64 kickstart
I have successfully set up a very nice kickstart install with the i386 version of CentOS 4.3 and it works great. I am using a custom kickstart script and the kernel and initrd from disc1/images. But when I try to duplicate this for a 64 bit setup (changing paths in my tftp server, ks.cfg, etc to point to the 64 bit stuff) it successfully tftp's everything just as it should (tethereal
