CentOS 6 and android connectivity (Nook)
So, I got my wife a Nook for her b'day. I just plugged it into my system,
CentOS 6.5, and what I see is /media/NOOK, and it shows 257k or so - yes,
k, not m or g. It's *not* seeing any directories, etc, and the small thing
I'm guessing is firmware, since even when I try mount -o remount -rw, it
is still r/o.

There's also MTP packages, that can speak directly. That's what I
installed on my 6 home workstation, and I can copy files to and from my

[HELP] Mongrel Needs a Patch Maven
Hey folks,
I''m falling behind in my Mongrel duties and seriously need to recruit an enterprising individual to take on the patch queue and help push out a new release with some minor fixes. The goal would be to just get patches that are currently languishing, pull them together, put them in the source, write some tests to try them, and then one slight design change.
If this works out

CentOSPlus Kernel for 586?
..., if that's what
it takes. Only having LFS experience (rpm nu2me), I anticipate a
"learning curve" and a minimal amount of hand holding. Since I keep
abreast of the lists, know how to Google the list, have heavy
development background and *light* and *ancient* admin (but for my
little nook here), ... (you get it) hand-holding should be very little.
2) My target machine has a minimal (mostly) CentOS 4.3 kept up-to-date
and plenty of HD. Also have a 2.2PR Athlon w/768M DR ram, plenty of hd,
so cross-compile (I don't remember details from my LFS days) is
reasonable.
3) I am alread...

Nook isn't an iPhone though. Apple's very proprietary. :)
Is there a computer in the house with iTunes? For example, when my wife
travels, she wants videos on her iPad. I transcode them for the iPad on a

e-pub or downloadable xhtml of the manuals?
http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/
This document has provided more information to me than I can adequately
express, and as masochistic as it sounds, I'd kinda like to pop a copy
on my nook and devour it. along with any of the other docs hosted on
the samba website. has anyone prepared epubs of the documentation? if
not epubs, than at least xhtml files in a zip suitable for use in
converting to an epub?
If anyone has any of this or knows where I can download it, lemme know,

Release tags in SVN?
Hi,
Im just wondering what strategy I should use for checking out from
your repo. I''ve seen posts here announcing BackrounDRb 1.0 RC 2, 1.0
but I don''t see any tags in the repo for these releases - I only see
two old tags (release-0.2.0 & release-0.2.1). I''m assuming the HEAD
code might be a bit unstable at times so should I use timestamps for
checking

Appetite for eliminating dependency on Perl
...ight be a bit smaller in Ubuntu?).
Not such a huge deal, really, but the actual benefit R gets from the
dependency is quite small. From my poking around in the R sources (using
`git grep -P '\bperl\b(?! ?= ?(?:TRUE|FALSE))' ` as a filter), it looks
like it's only used in the following nooks & crannies:
* tools/help2man.pl
* tools/install-info.pl
* configure: INSTALL_INFO="perl \$(top_srcdir)/tools/install-info.pl"
* m4/R.m4: INSTALL_INFO="perl \$(top_srcdir)/tools/install-info.pl"
Ultimately that's only two scripts. `help2man.pl` seems like it...

command-line: AIFF writer advice
How about the opposite?
What I would like to see is FLAC support in libaudiofile, so
applications written with libaudiofile could transparently take
advantage on FLAC's compression. Ironically I guess it would still make
sense to use libaudiofile in FLAC for getting input. Mmmm, cyclic
dependancies...
Or is that just a stupid idea?

Un peu d'aide
Bonjour,
variance=1.
