pvhvm on debian
hello,
I know this not quite a xen problem but im sure a fair number of people are
using debian for their dom0 and maybe have some insight into this.
I have a large number of dom0''s running squeeze and for a long time i was
hoping for pvhvm to make into the official debian xen packages and recently
during some periodic updates I noticed pvhvm working after a kernel package
update.

Weird access problem to files
...installation was done with "valid users" and "write list". We've ported this to ACL, but for some path users are denied access and we cannot understand why.
I.e. for a generic share, user "user1" can browse and access almost everything except for directory "NONWORKING". So, by doing several test, we found out that copying the very same directory from another user which has access (a domain admin) to a new one, this directory IS accessible by "user1"!
This directory has a specific security entry which allows writing to "user1".
This...

Incompatibility Windows 7
As Gaiseric requested, here is the testparm -v diff of a working and
nonworking member server in the NT4 domain. I've tried to align the
columns, but it's possible your mail client may mangle them.
The only parameter change I have tried is changing 'ntlm auth' to Yes on
the the nonworking system. It did not fix anything.
Thanks for looking.

2.4.20, 2.4.21-pre2 and 2.4.20-ac2
Greetings,
I have just tested Syslinux 1.75 and Syslinux 2.00 on a floppy disk that
worked fine with Kernel 2.4.19 on a 1.44Mb floppy disk (the kernel about
1.1Mb in size). I decided to update the Kernel to the new 2.4.20 (as well
as 2.4.21-pre2 and 2.4.20-ac2) which I tested to work fine when booting
from the HDD using Lilo, but when I took my original disk that used 2.4.19

Problems with BDC authentication
Today we had a problem with our Win NT4 PDC and discovered numerous
failover issues with our Samba file server.
For starters, this is a Debian Etch machine running Samba-3.0.24-2. At
this point, this is a critical production machine. Upgrading is on our
to-do path, but is not an option for an immediate fix to this problem.
With the exception of this problem, this Samba installation has been

Anyone having a suggestion what might be the reason for the nonworking Echo() ?
I am really stuck; Google could not really help. Any ideas would be highly
appreciated!
Thanks in advance,

S-code for piecewise regression
Dear R-helpers,
a S-code for piecewise regressions was provided by Toms & Lesperance
(2003) Ecology, 84, 2034-2041 (paper can be found on the web). The code
is quite complete with different types of transitions around breakpoints
and model selection fonctions.
It doesn't work directly under R due to some "translation" problems I
guess. However I reckon that it would be a

Well, the execl function call to call login is identical in both versions
("working" and "nonworking"), so I doubt that is the issue. I'm not sure if
I can fudge the calls to supply env variables on the command line, but could
give it a try...

Resync raid1 from disk with unreadable sectors
Hello,
After some fiddling with the server now I have broken RAID1 with the
"current" mirror on the disk with few unreadable sectors. If I try to
re-add other disk to the mirror resync goes till those bad sectors and
then starts from the beginning. And so on.
Is it possible to somehow force resync to continue even after errors?
Manual resync with dd would require a bit too long

Youtube broken by 89d295a94
Hello!
The current swfdec from git won't play videos on youtube. I had
bisected the change. 8fc53e76 ("merge the too get_variable functions")
is the last good revision. 89d295a94 ("implement
swfdec_action_get_movie_by_path() and use it for GetVariable") is
broken.
Broken revisions show "share" and "watch" on blinking white background

problems with tftp-hpa timing out.
I'm difficulty diagnosing a tftp-hpa problem. Specfically, when
performing a PXE boot, the machine hangs at the "TFTP...." and times out.
This is only occuring at one network location (we'll call it network A).
Now on network B, the computers on network can tftp boot no problem.
If I run a tftp client from my workstation to connect to the tftp-hpa
server on network A, I can

Some hint on loglevel to set, to better spot the trouble? Thanks.

dovecot and time
I found something interesting via strace. lda is writing a timestamp
with utime before doign the fsync, but I'm really not a C guy, so I
have no idea why that's going on via procmail and not via commandline.
I assume it's related to the choice of pread64 vs read.
when called from commandline (working):
read(0, "July 14-20, 2013\n10 courses. Bon"..., 4096) = 4096
