non-digits in svnversion output mess up windows build if USE_SVNVERSION=yes (PR#11339)
...ls/GETVERSION to fix up this problem. It removes
the trailing M or S and removes anything up to an including a
colon, so it reports the highest version in the range. If there
are still non-digits in there it makes the version string "0"
(not useful, but doesn't kill the build with a noninformative
error message).
I ran into another problem with the trailing 'M' from svnversion
when doing 'make rinstaller' in R_HOME/src/gnuwin32:

Life times of one brand of light bulb were observed. Life hours of nine light
bulbs were 898, 720, 354, 405, 620, 54, 229, 306, 890. There were three more
light bulbs that were still burning after 1000 hours. It is common to assume
the life time of a light bulb follows an exponential distribution. With the
observed data find the MLE of the parameter of the exponential distribution

Bayesian logistic regression?
Hi all.
Are there any R functions around that do quick logistic regression with
a Gaussian prior distribution on the coefficients? I just want
posterior mode, not MCMC. (I'm using it as a step within an iterative
imputation algorithm.) This isn't hard to do: each step of a glm
iteration simply linearizes the derivative of the log-likelihood, and,
at this point, essentially no

OT: A test with dependent samples.
I am appealing to the general collective wisdom of this
list in respect of a statistics (rather than R) question. This question
comes to me from a friend who is a veterinary oncologist. In a study
that
she is writing up there were 73 cats who were treated with a drug called
piroxicam. None of the cats were observed to be subject to vomiting
prior
to treatment; 12 of the cats were subject to
