Bitrot and panics
IIRC, uncorrectable bitrot even in a nonessential file detected by ZFS used to cause a kernel panic. Bug ID 4924238 was closed with the claim that bitrot-induced panics is not a bug, but the description did mention an open bug ID 4879357, which suggests that it''s considered a bug after all. Can somebody clarify the intended behavior? F...

Samba not recognizing secondary groups
...ba. So the issue isn't that somethign is wrong with her account, but just that Samba won't recognize any of the secondary groups to which she belongs. But it does recognize them for other users. I've seen references to this issue on the web, and apparently removing the user from some nonessential groups helps to un-confuse Samba. Anyone have other solutions to (or experience with) this bug? Thanks, Ed Holden Any information, including protected health information (PHI), transmitted in this email is intended only for the person or entity to which it is addressed and may contain inform...

Deleting contents of /tmp on shutdown
I use to have a line of code in /etc/init.d/syslog (I think this was the file) to delete the contents of my /tmp directory on shutdown. It originally came from fedora. I have searched for it but can't find it again. Anyone happen to have it? TIA

Fun (or lack of) with asterisk & T100P
...45:41 NOTICE[196621]: chan_zap.c:4776 handle_init_event: Alarm cleared on channel 2 Jan 13 15:45:41 NOTICE[196621]: chan_zap.c:4776 handle_init_event: Alarm cleared on channel 3 (repeated for channels 1-23) A few seconds after that the warnings appear again. The T100P has an IRQ to itself, all nonessential stuff has been ripped out of the kernel (2.4.23 on Red Hat 9) and I'm using zaptel, libpri and asterisk versions checked out of cvs today. zaptel.conf and zapata.conf file contents follow... framing, coding, and switch type were provided by the telco. Any help or at least a kick in the...

Merb test harness
...able to generate a view and its examples - a developer should be able to use merb built in example helpers (mock a request..) - a merb plugin developer should be able to test his/her plugin Is that correct? Do you mind if we create a list of user stories, assign priorities (critical, essential, nonessential) and try to get things done? Or do you prefer to just work on it and we''ll see later on? ;) -Matt On 7/27/07, Ezra Zygmuntowicz <ez at engineyard.com> wrote: > > On Jul 27, 2007, at 3:35 PM, Matt Aimonetti wrote: > > > Ezra, > > > > I''m sure...

Anyone running VMWARE server on CentOS?
Hi, I guess the subject says it all.. I am thinking about combining a few servers onto a single server since they mostly do nothing much at all which would mean there would be less load on the UPS and a lot less noise in my office.. Since VMWare server is now free its probably the perfect time to do it.. The only issue is getting the VMWare up and running.. I would prefer to run it on

More about firewalling
Hi All, So before when I used PIX's for my employer, our traffic was statically routed to one IP and then the firewall decided if allowed/ denied and passed it on or dropped it. I have a Comcast business circuit with 13 IP's. The gateway device they provide is a 'pass through' device. They sent traffic for all 13 IP's my way. It just allows traffic through. So if I put

Debian Buster, bind_dlz, and apparmor
Hai,  Normaly i kick in sooner but im in bed fit by flu. :-(  You have to add the bind paths to the apparmor profile, or disable apparmor in total, just dont remove it, should work also. debian wiki or ubuntu wiki shows how.  But why are you using buster, imo really not safe,  if you wany a 4.7 for stretch use my apt. When im better i can have a look into your problem more closely. greetz
