In place editing an empty field
...riptaculous InPlaceEditor and in some cases the
field will be empty. That is, the field currently has no value but the
user wants to enter a value.
The InPlaceEditor appears to not work in this case. Other identical
fields (except wit different ids and some value) do work.
I have tried using a nonbreaking space ( ), and this does cause the
editor to appear, but then presents " " when the user selects the
field. If I use a real space, the editor does not appear. I have looked
at all of the documentation I could find and looked at the code, but
found nothing that see...

How do I get substring of utf-8 string?
I''m trying to get substring from a utf-8 encoded string. (say, first
50 characters of the string) String#[0..49] would give me the first
50 bytes not 50 characters..
I know there is jcode library, but it only let you count number of
characters in utf-8 string.
unicode gem doesn''t seem to help much. unicode_hacks gem seem to

Render partial generate unwanted spaces
Hello, I have a problem with the render :partial method in all my
rails webapplications. I noticed that using render :partial will
generate spaces (mainly top spaces) on the elements inserted.
As all my websites are seperated by module (basicaly header, content,
menu, footer) it''s quite a problem as I have to set negative margin-
top to various parts for the site to display as expected
