Bad smbclient put performance and smbfs write performance
Hi,
I've had extremely bad smbclient put performance when connecting from my Linux
box to a Windows 95 box. I only get about 10KBytes/s! All other forms of data
transfer work fine, and I get from 600-700KBytes/s. This is on a local 10BT
LAN. I've seen a few other reports of this, but no solutions as of yet.
smbclient does puts just fine to another Linux/Samba Server. I'm using

ext3 and quota still problematic?
Hello,
we used ext3 with diskquota and kernel 2.4.19 and 2.4.20 and went into
the described problem here:
http://www.zip.com.au/~akpm/linux/ext3/ext3-usage.html see Status
Were there any merges with -ac in this direction in 2.4.21 so it might
be fixed?
Will there be merges in the future?
Does kernel 2.6.x also have this problem?
Thanks alot for your answers.

getent not working (again)
Hi all,
after I searched the internet about a week now I can't find an answer to my
problem:
The company I work for is using a Windows 2003 Domain using the Windows
Services for UNIX (SFU) and NIS. We are using two Domain Controllers that
are hosting the ADS.
Now I want to use Samba and NFS to implement a file server for our mixed
client enviroment: There will be Linux, HP UNIX, Solaris,

AW: getent not working (again)
I don't think that this is my problem. When I try 'getent passwd <user>' I
get no output either. And we only store about 200 users. Is bug 3024 fixed
in the newest version? I will try to apply the patch.

On the server side, I didn't get far because the domain name come up NULL so
it failed on that test.
Below are two logs log98.txt and log2000.txt that show full debug info.
I might just have a stupid configuration or installation mistakes. I am sure
that my basic configuration must work since it is a very typical setup.
Any help will be highly appreciated

connect to it - wait about 2 minutes and then get 'network is busy' message.
I suspect that my problems may lie somewhere in the multiple domains /
subnetting areas, but I can't see where.
Any comments will be welcome. TIA

Hints for bad smbclient-2.0.3 put performance (Go back to 1.9.18p10!)
Hi,
I've been experiencing extremely poor smbclient put performance. I've written
about it a few times to the samba list, and to comp.protocols.smb, but no good
responses yet, except that I'm not the only one, and 1.9.18 may be better.
So I downloaded and compiled 1.9.18p10 for kicks, and found that the smbclient
there has excellent performance! Now I get 900KB/s puts instead of
