No noht?
Am I correct in reading the code that there is no "noht"
(turn off hyperthreading) option in Xen (except in powerpc)?
This was a surprise to me as I've seen it documented in
various places and I recently suggested it as a diagnostic
to a customer.

''ser_baud=xxx'' option gone away
The Xen boot option ''ser_baud=<baud>'' has been removed from the
unstable tree. If you were still using this obsolete option then the
effect is that you will get no serial output when you boot Xen, which
may lead you to believe that there is a more serious problem.
To fix this you must move to the new boot option:

virtual disk/block-device problem
I am trying to write a script to handle setup of domains using virtual
block devices for their root FS and have been unable to get the virtual
devices to work with any sort of consistency. This is using xen-1.1.bk
on Redhat 7.3 (I had to rebuild all the tool binaries to run on 7.3).
Anyway, I would first like to make sure I am using the vd/vbd stuff correctly.
Here is an example of the problem I

Could the same result could be obtained if hyperthreading is disabled from
the BIOS ?
Supermicro Motherboards (most Phoneix based) have this option
Also, would we see same pops and clicks in a dual CPU box (Zeon) then ?

intel se7501wv2 interrupt problem?
I'm having some really odd issues with the networking on this old Intel
se7501wv2
The network card onboard is an Intel Corporation 82546EB
I'm getting quite a lot of "[Errno 4] Socket Error: timed out" when I
attempt to download updates on this machine.
Other machines on my network do not appear to be plagued with the same
disconnect problems.
Not sure what kernel flags I

I am trying to install Xen/Xenolinux v1.1 on my workstation which has 2

RE: Error Creating Domain:vbd:Segment phy:/dev/hda3 isin writable use
I''ve seen this happen before, not sure why. I changed ''phy:'' to ''file:'' and it worked. I later rebooted and ''phy:'' worked again. So you might try ''file:'' rather than ''phy:''.

Just my experience: I have installed Asterisk twice on Fedora Core 1 with kernel 2.4.22-1.2188.nptlsmp on Dual Xeon systems. It has worked perfectly both times, without needing any additional compiler flags, and no kernel panics.

P4 processor with Hyperthreading and Asterisk
Hello,
I read an interesting article on 2cpu.com that talks about the performance
differences between a P4 processor with Hyperthreading(HT) enabled and
disabled.
http://www.2cpu.com/articles/ht_explored/index.html
The bottom line of the article is that processor intensive applications
greatly benefit from HT being enabled, but memory intensive applications can
actually see a slight decrease in

ztdummy, zttest
Hello,
Today we setted up a server that needs to use MeetMe but doesn't have
any Zap hardware. So we need to use ztdummy (at least, this was our
idea).
Rarely: zttest is not working at all (100% bad, using zttest -v doesn't
give anything, etc.). Of course, after load ztdummy, there isn't any
background or anything.
It is the same kernel (Debian Etch default kernel, 2.6.18) than

help! error in creating a new domain
Maybe this question is a little stupid, but please help me. I am a newbie
to Xen.
When I tried to create a new domain "domain 1", I followed the Yan-Ching
CHU''s guide on :installing quick file systems for new domains in Xen 1.2".
But when I do "xc_dom_create.py -Dvmid=1", Xen seems to start to boot with
some normal bootup information, but right after several
