I am trying to write a script to handle setup of domains using virtual block devices for their root FS and have been unable to get the virtual devices to work with any sort of consistency. Other machines on my network do not appear to be plagued with the same disconnect problems. Not sure what kernel flags I should try, I've tried noht and noapic at the moment. What I have found out is that I had to disable hyperthreading, or I would be getting very choppy audio (I think that's what you mean when you say "needs kernel thread turned off").
