power management and ext3 - mount as ext2?
...n here. I've read some about how you can't power down a
disk under ext3 because of the journaling writes. I also know I can
mount my ext3 partitions as ext2.
What about mounting the partitions as ext2 while mobile on batteries?
The hard disk would spin down when it wasn't in use (if noflush, etc.
has been configured). But what about data integrity when remounting as
ext3 later?
I figure this is a good a place as any to start learning about the file
system.

[Bug 1348] New: v1.8.2 iptables-nft-restore incorrectly handles multiple replace commands
...Hardware: x86_64
OS: All
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P5
Component: iptables-restore
Assignee: netfilter-buglog at lists.netfilter.org
Reporter: shaun at tigera.io
Our project uses iptables-nft-restore in noflush mode as a way to run lots of
iptables commands quickly. We've found that, in nft mode, if we use -R to
replace rules, then the rule that gets replaced is only correct for the first
-R. Subsequent replaces seem to replace the same rule again:

[Bug 104] Bytes/packets counters sometimes give incorrect values
...ith iptables -nvxL from a
minutely cron job and occasionally the counts come back as zero or a few
packets worth of bytes and then return to their previous values the next
minute. Based on the timing, it's quite likely that this is happening at
times when another iptables or iptables-restore (--noflush) process is
running.
The system is a RH7.3 box (iptables-1.2.8-8.72.3) with a custom compiled
2.4.20 kernel.
It's pretty unpredictable, but I might be able to get an strace of the
process if that would help.

nfs_flush errors
I'm looking for some help with an nfs error that is filling our logs. I
get a constant stream of these messages:
Jul 8 10:47:08 servername dovecot: [ID 107833 mail.error]
IMAP(username): nfs_flush_file_handle_cache_dir: rmdir(/var/mail)
failed: Device busy
I have two dovecot IMAP servers. All mailboxes are NFS mounted. The
INBOX is /var/mail and the rest are in
