installing on 915GAVL motherboard kernel bombs and/or X bombs
...nce I got as far as partitioning the disk manually and X blew
and the machine rebooted.
Couple times I have had kernel crashes at different stages of install.
I have not has trouble installing before and was wondering if there
are suggestions.
I did try installing without X "linux text pci=noapci" and that stopped
also.
All anaconda says is "install exited abnormally".
I went ot the hardware monitor portion and seems stable CPU temp
at around 48-50C.
Any ideas?

3. How can I tell Grub to use "pci=noapci" to see if that solves the issue
with the FXO cards?
Thank you

unable to start installing
Hi.
I'm trying to install CentOs 4.3 on a "old" server. Cd's are ok, as i am
able to use them in another computers.
What happens is that initial text screen shows up (asking if i want to
install in text or grpahics mode), but either way all that happens is that i
get a cursor blinking on the top left corner for a long period of time.
anything i can try?
thank you.

clock, centos 4 and dual core?
Hi,
I have a dual core athlon server and it is gaining 1 day every 2 days
w/o time sync. Even with ntpd running, the time is not under control.
I must put a very frequent cronjob of 'ntpdate' to keep the time under
control. This creates big problems since winbind eventually stops
working so my users can't access their data.
Any ideas?

Back to my Xwindows kernel panic
....2 this unit has the powerk8
patch requirement), I install on an old compaq and change to init 3. I
then move the drive and run system-config-display to get the unit to
read the hwconf file and reset xorg.conf. This worked fine in 5.1. In
5.2, the system hangs. What to do? btw, i tried pci=noapci with no change.
A couple other facts about this system. No accessable bios. When the
system is booting (in character mode) the video frequently goes off then
back on; some refresh problem. I have also seen this at times in a
session on the console when I enter some commands. It would be nic...

Boot Loop in efi
Thanks for the hints - I have NOT CONFIG_EFI enabled - do I need this actually?
I do not know which variables I need to boot... The kernel APPEND parameters are
sufficient for me...
And the relocatable config is set already.
.. I enabled the EFI kernel config parts - no change... the console prints:
Booting System...
Loading linux... ok
Loading iramfs.gz...ok
[then reboot]
