Questions about reverse zone
Hi Guys, I've two DC (Zentyal Samba 4.7.6) and put new DC (Centos 7, Samba 4.7.6) with additional domain controller and works fine. My question is about reverse zone. The original DC (zentyal1 and zentyal2) have a reverse registres ``` root at zentyal1:/etc/bind# dig +noall +answer -x 10.13.250.110 110.250.13.10.in-addr.arpa. 259200 IN PTR zentyal1.example.com. root at zentyal1:/etc/bind# dig +noall +answer -x 10.13.250.111 111.250.13.10.in-addr.arpa. 259200 IN PTR zentyal2.example.com. root at zentyal2:/etc/bind# ``` But the new server not have reverse registre ``...

Samba + BIND9 DLZ. DNS dosen't resolve FQDN, only short hostname
Hm, I thought this to be the very TLD that is specifically assigned for local networks with no plans to become Internet-wide. What is the recommended TLD for such networks then? default Bind on CentOS 4.4 and reverse DNS subnets issue?
Anybody knows if the Bind version on CentOS 4.4 (9.2.4) has issues with doing reverse DNS for subnets? (networks smaller than /24) I keep a reverse DNS /26 subnet on Bind 9.3.1 (Fedora) and it works fine. I've a /27 subnet on CentOS 4 (bind 9.2.4), exactly the same config just different subnets and addresses, and it does not work. I do a "dig @localhost .......in-addr.arpa. PTR"

Logging Bind answers
I am having a mail server problem where the mail to one domain is being sent to the wrong server. When I use "dig masonc.com mx", I get ;; ANSWER SECTION: masonc.com. 86400 IN MX 5 mail.masonc.com. ;; AUTHORITY SECTION: masonc.com. 86400 IN NS ns1.picadoo.com. masonc.com. 86400 IN NS ns2.picadoo.com. ;;

NTP
Hi folks, Have there been any changes to the way ntpd behaves in the past few updates? Reason I ask, whenever I run the ntpq or ntpdc, I immediately get a response of Name or service not known. I know things used to work sometime back, and never saw this kind of stuff. Nothing has changed in the /etc/ntp.conf file, nor has anything changed in the /etc/ntp/ntpservers files. T

Voice broken during calls (again...)
Hi list! So, now I have a business contract and a technician was here to check the DSL... Nothing found, except that for 50Mbps I need now vectoring. Really nice... A couple of years ago I could get 50Mbps without vectoring. Of course, Deutsche Telekom said nothing about this change... Well, I got it working, and now I have 48Mbps down and 10Mbps up. I _REALLY CAN'T_ believe, that this is

...erver. - You have to use the DNS of Deutsche Telekom which they provide during the ppp-login because they usually provide optimal sip servers for you (regarding distance). You're RTT of ping (18 ms) is pretty bad. I'm having here 5 ms to the primary server (Telekom provides 3). See dig +noall +answer _sip._udp.tel.t-online.de SRV e.g. (don't know the hostname for the business infrastructure) Regards, Michael [1] https://sourceforge.net/projects/pcapsipdump/ [2] https://telekomhilft.telekom.de/t5/Telefonie-Internet/Das-richtige-Kabel-zwischen-APL-und-TAE-Dose/ta-p/3499089

Regarding the ping time: wich line do you have?...

looking for sssd basics and simple config with existing ldap centos 6.3
Hi, I'm planing to setup a new samba fileserver as a member to an existing samba 3.x SMB. The old server is still nss-pam-ldapd configured (historic left overs). As I dont have any pressure to have the new server up and running within the next few hours, I liked to set up sssd with our existing openldap. After googling and reading some documentations from redhat/fedora I think I do have a
