distance between phylogenetic trees (quartet, NNI)
Hi all,
I want to calculate distances between phylogenetic trees. I found
functions for symmetric difference (e.g. in ape and in some other
packages).
In addition to this I also want to calculate quartets and nearest
neighbor interchange distances; are there any functions for this?
My apologies if they exist and I overlooked.
best regards

[ronvdaal@zarathustra.linux666.com: Possible security issue with FreeBSD 5.4 jailing and BPF]
This message was sent to bugtraq today:
While playing around with FreeBSD 5.4 and jailing I discovered that it was
possible to put an ethernet interface into promiscious mode from within the
jailed environment, allowing a packetsniffer to gather data not meant for
the jailed box. This also affects FreeBSD 5.3 (tested) but not FreeBSD 4.x
This can be reproduced on boxes where BPF support is

Manipulation of longitudinal data by row
I have a dataset of the form below, consisting of one unique ID per
row, followed by a series of visit dates. At each visit there are
values for 3 dichotomous variables. Of the 8 different possible
combinations of the three variables, 4 are "abnormal" and the
remaining 4 are "normal". Everyone starts out abnormal, and then
either continues to be abnormal at subsequent visits,

How to authenticate to CVS via Winbind?
Hi!
As a Samba newbie I have a big problem getting my Win2000 Server PDC users
to authenticate to CVS/SSH on my samba 2.2.3a-12.3 debian woody machine. The
linux server is member of the Windows Domain, and users can login via the
network neighbourhood and their domain passwords (style: DOMAIN\user).
wbinfo -u gives me all the known Domain users, so I think winbind is working
correctly...

Help on a Nat To Nat soluction - tinc servers won't ping remote clients
Thank you, Parke and Guus.
I have now understood and got it working.
Because of my beginner belief, I assumed that the tinc vpn end points needed to be on the same network.
I have now discovered that the tinc vpn IP end points addresses can be arbitrary, and different!
So I have set the end points to be local to the LAN they connect, and added on each tinc server a dev route to ensure

Help on a Nat To Nat soluction - tinc servers won't ping remote clients
I have a three tinc server setup, similar to "4.3 How Connections Work" using the configuration mostly likehttp://ostolc.org/site-to-site-vpn-with-tinc.html
The clients (Ubuntus, Debians and Windows 10s) can all ping (and SSH) to each other remotely.
As far as that is concerned it's working great - thanks so much for some great software.
However, on each of the Tinc servers (A and

zaphfc / incoming call - error 6
Hi Folks,
I've Asterisk Bristuffed up and running behind an Auerswald Commander
Basic ISDN PBX on the internal ISDN Bus (BRI/PTMP). The HFC Card works
marvelleous for outgoing calls (as the parallely installed avm fritzcard
with chan_capi does), but when I'm trying to call in, I get a short ring
signal and then the connection is terminated. This does not happen with
chan_capi and
