Missing folders inside huge folders catalog.
Hi, I get into the problem with samba ( Version 4.8.3-Debian ). Don't know how to troubleshoot it. installing the Simple package
I'm using Verzani's "Using R for Introductory Statistics" to teach a Research Methods in Psych course, and it recommends simple.median.test() for sign tests, which is in the Simple package--but nowhere I can find has ever heard of the Simple package! Anybody ever heard of this function or this package? cheers, Krysta ---------------------------- Krysta Chauncey, Ph.D.

"improvements" in RSiteSearch
I've made a few changes in the indices in my R search site. http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu is the general URL, and RSiteSearch takes you to http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu/search.html, which is equivalent to http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu/nmz.html. The main change is that I have eliminated "Previous message" and "Next message" from each page. (I still have "Next in thread," if it exists, and replys.) These no longer get indexed by the search engine (Namazu). As a result, search should be a bit less slow...

odfWeave & xtable still best packages to produce tables?
Just a quick question - I did a quick search of the R-search (http://search.r-project.org/nmz.html) [thanks to David Winsemius for recommending this neat R search engine] and R-seek (http://www.rseek.org/) trying to find a package(s) in order to produce publication quality tables. I found several references to odfWeave and xtable. My question is, are those still best R packages to produ...

Help with Conditional Logit
Hello, I'm brand new to using R. (I've been using Rapid Miner, but would like to move over to R since it gives me much more functionality.) I'm trying to learn how to do a conditional logit model. My data has one dependent variable, 2 independent variables and a "group" variable. example: class v1 v2 group "sick" .3 .7 1 "well"

Post-Hoc Test for Kruskal-Wallis Rank Sum Test
Hi list, I would like to know if there is a way in R to execute a post-hoc test (factor levels comparison, like Tukey for ANOVA) of a non-parametric analysis of variance (kruskal.test() function object). I was looking for something like the Dunn Test. I’ve searched the internet but nothing seemed to define a way to it. Do You have any suggestion? Other equivalent test maybe! Thanks in

breaking multi-modal histograms down into combinations of unimodal distributions
Dear All, Does anybody know if there is a functionality in R to break histograms that show a clear bi-modal (or multi-modal) distribution into a series of unimodal histograms that added up result in the original histogram? I was thinking of using QQ-plots (for which tools are available in R), and then observing the number of times the observed quantiles cross the 1:1 line, but this only gives an

tables
Dear R People: I have generated the following table: > table(zza$DEATH,zza$GENDER) F M 2009-04-21 0 1 2009-04-22 4 2 2009-04-24 6 0 2009-04-25 1 3 2009-04-26 2 0 2009-04-28 3 0 2009-04-29 2 2 However, instead of total counts in the F and M columns, I would like percents. How would I do this, please? thanks, Erin -- Erin

Count data categories from table
Hi there, I have a relatively simple question, though, I couldn't find a solution for it so far. I have a table with 1000 entries and columns containing information about different parameters for each entry. What I want to do is group all parameters from one of the columns [e.g. if all 1000 entries are grouped in 30 different categories (described as character strings) in a second column] and

...pgrade the operating system. (And another day some time in January because of a planned power outage.) Second, I have replaced the search engine in my R site: http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu/ I am now using Namazu instead of HtDig. The direct link to the search page is http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu/nmz.html Namazu has capabilities that HtDig does not have, such as wildcard searches. (On the down side, its phrase searching works fine for two word phrases, but a search for "A B C" will actually produce something like "A B" or "B C", so it will give you more than you...

MLE optimization
Folks, I'm kind of newbie in R, but with some background in Matlab and VBA programming. Last month I was implementing a Maximum Likelihood Estimation in Matlab, but the algorithms didn't converge. So my academic advisor suggested using R. My problem is: estimate a mean reverting jump diffusion parameters. I've succeeded in deriving the likelihood function (which looks like a gaussian
