TEST 3: PASS

Final touches to SAMBA: help please
...tach 95 an NT4 machines to it. I got the compiled Samba off the net somewhere and did a pkgadd. It installed fine.
I have read the man pages and the FAQ, and run the tests on the UNIX side and all are fine. FYI, these are:
smbclient -L
nmblookup -B (on server and client)
nmblookup -d 2 '*'
nmbclient '\\av\tmp' (av is unix server ame)
I can see the server from my pc in DOS an 95, I can map drives in DOS, and see the shares under 95 and NT4 (as defined in the smb.conf file), but as soon as I try to attach thru windows it gives me password errors. NT asks for a username, yet still fails....

Problem connecting from PC
...FreeBSD machine from my Windows NT workstation
I get the following errors:
using "net view \\NS1"
Access denied.
using "net use * \\NS1\tmp /user:hjohnson" and then entering my password
The account is not authorized to login from this station.
However, I can do a "nmbclient //NS1/tmp -Uhjohnson%secret" and connect just
fine.
I commented out the "hosts allow" out of smb.conf and still no success. Any
suggestions would be appreciated.

I was wondering if anybody had this problem. If I use nmbclient to
resolve a name, I get 'name_query failed to find name xxxx'.
No names get resolved, but if I use smbclient with the same name and
specify the IP everything is fine.
Just as additional info, ping, telnet etc work fine, I have 'name
resolve order = lmhosts wins bcast host' in smb...

Looking up NetBIOS names
Is it possible to ask a machine for its NetBIOS name if it's running either
Windows or Samba?
I tried a few various nmblookup and smbclient command lines to no avail. I
would like to be able to query a machine (by IP) and have it respond with
its nb name.
I've noted that if I perform an smbclient -L -I on a machine, it will not
list its shares unless I get the NetBIOS name correct...
