Job opportunity in AMSTERDAM: ANALYSIS OF NGS CANCER DATA
COMPUTATIONAL ANALYSIS OF NEXT GENERATION SEQUENCE DATA (http://bioinformatics.nki.nl/vacancies.php) THREE BIOINFORMATICS POSITIONS PROJECT OUTLINE Genomic alterations are major determinant of responses to (targeted) therapies in cancer. In fact, the best positive and negative predictors of responses to targeted therapies are alterations in kinases or their direct downstream...

error in plot(table(c('a','a')))
Hi all, there appears to be something strange with the plotting of tables of 1 dimension; if I attempt to make a plot of a table of characters with only 1 value I get an error (Error in xy.coords(x, y, xlabel, ylabel, log) : 'x' and 'y' lengths differ). With more than one value I don't get errors, neither with integers (even if only 1 value): tbl.char1 <-

test for equality of two data sets with multidimensional variables
Hello there, I have two data sets with 14 variables each, and wish to do the test for equality of their covariance matrices and mean vectors. Normally these tests should be done by chi square test (box provided) and Hotelling's T square test respectively. Which R functions could do this kind of test? I just find some functions could do for one dimension, but no for multidimension. Some one

[PATCH 0/9] tools: remove or disable old/useless/unused/unmainted stuff
depends on "autoconf: regenerate configure scripts with 4.4 version" This series removes some of the really old deadwood from the tools build and makes some other things which are on their way out configurable at build time with a default depending on how far down the slope I judge them to be. * nuke in tree copy of libaio * nuke obsolete tools: xsview, miniterm, lomount & sv *

mouse cursor won't leave screen center
Hi, I'm trying to play Frontier First Encounters' Windows port jjffe using wine, since that's the only version of the game that actually has a proper framerate under X (using the dos version under dosbox I get about 2fps during the intro sequence, while jjffe under wine looks perfect.) However, the mouse stays more or less put in the center of the screen. When I move it around,

What's the baseline model when using coxph with factor variables?
Hi all, I'm trying to fit a Cox regression model with two factor variables but have some problems with the interpretation of the results. Considering the following model, where var1 and var2 can assume value 0 and 1: coxph(Surv(time, cens) ~ factor(var1) * factor(var2), data=temp) What is the baseline model? Is that considering the whole population or the case when both var1 and var2 =

Problem with gsl package
Hi all, I am new to R and am writing after having contacted Robin Hankin, who maintains the R gsl wrapper. I am trying to use an AFNI (neuroimaging analysis) program that depends on the R gsl package. When I try to use the script I wrote, I get an error that led me to suspect the gsl package was a culprit. When I do library("gsl") within R, I get: Err...
