rpm package for sles10
...ing the RPM package the guys of Redhat created,
because I wanted an Init Script for SLES10 built-in. I started documenting
the steps I took. Maybe it''s useful for someone else, although in German..
but the basic steps should be useable.
My little Installating puppet Howto:
http://wiki.njh.eu/Konfigurationsmanagement#Installation_3
The Init Script for SLES10:
http://wiki.njh.eu/Konfigurationsmanagement_PuppetInit
The Spec file for building the new RPM:

Any suggestions for improvement would be welcome.

Status.xsl not displaying everything
Hi guys,
I've got the following set up:
- Linux SuSE 8.2
- Running: Icecast2
- Source Client: Ices0.3
- Stream Client: Winamp 5.0 in Windows XP
The following is happening:
- I've got Ices0.3 streaming MP3's with correct ID3-tags to the
Icecast-server
- Suppose the stream name is "Ovide's Radio"
- In the status.xsl page of Icecast2, I only see info about: mountpount,

libshout: Streaming MPEG Audio Layer 2
Hi,
I have been trying to stream MPEG Audio Layer 2 using libshout in my
dvbshout program:
http://www.ecs.soton.ac.uk/~njh/dvbshout/
However I have been using the shout_send_raw() API call because the
MPEG audio header parser rejects audio that isn't Layer 3. Streaming
layer 2 works in exactly the same way as Layer 3 and without any
problems.
Would it be possible to get src/mp3.c changed so that it accepts...

Announcing Version 2.0.0 of Icecast
After many years of development and testing, icecast has finally moved to
2.0.0.
What's new in 2.0 ?
* completely rewritten codebase from 1.x - highly efficient and low
memory usage.
* addition of new media types (Ogg Vorbis) and a framework to add new
ones easier. Icecast still supports MP3 streaming as well (including
shoutcast-style metadata)
* a web-based administration

Equivalent ssh_config setting for "ssh -N"
Dear OpenSSH developers,
Is there an equivalent ssh_config setting for the command line option
ssh -N ...

I want to connect to a server that doesn't provide an interactive
shell but allows for port forwarding only. I'd love to configure
this into my ~/.ssh/config as follows:
Host foo
Hostname ...

Silence Detection for stream - Linux (Ubuntu 12.04/14.04) ALSA ONLY
Hello,
I only know a nice tool for JACK, called silentjack.
So if by any chance, you find the strength to use JACK anyway, here is
the source code : http://www.aelius.com/njh/silentjack/
The code is very light and simple : if you have some programming skills,
you might even adapt it for ALSA.
Sorry for this OT answer.
Hoggins!

Multiple Services on one Server
Newbie question!
We currently are running a product call
TAS from Syntax Corporation and would like to move to Samba. I have review
the documentation and cannot find how to set up muliple services on one
server. I tried using the Netbios name = and the include statement to
bring in another smb.conf file but I don't think I'm on the right track.

ADDITIONAL ISSUE
Andrew:
One additional issue that came up with trying to configure the SMB.CONF
file:
The "Using Samba" book from O'Reilly says to start up my browser and go to
"http://localhost:901, to use the SWAT package.
This did not work. My IE 5.0 came back with an unable to locate or connect
to
the specified host.
I know the /etc/services file was modified correctly, I checked it

hosts allow/deny question
Hi all,
I would like to do something like this at Samba level:
hosts allow = subnet1/mask1 subnet2/mask2 etc
hosts deny = *
But this doesn't seem to work (machine that are not in subnet1 and
not in subnet2 still have access)
I think the * is not understood by Samba, I tried ALL, this didn't
work either. I'm gonna check the samba source code but if I could
get an expert answer
