nitwit's attempt to edit samba source
Hi,
As Viktor has picked up on, remote_host is a struct of type
tsocket_address. It's not very typical to be able to directly access
this kind of information and there'll usually be some function that
looks helpful. In the tsocket guide that he's posted, there seems to be
a function that you want, which takes your remote_host and converts it
to what looks to be a proper (ipv4 or

nitwit's attempt to edit samba source
Hi Viktor!
Thanks for your try at this, I am already doing what you suggest: the
iptables - timestaps. But that is rather troublesome, and I would very
much samba to log this vital info.
Anyway, I tried what you suggested, and now it stopped compiling. :-)
Does this error perhaps tell you something, or are you just as clueless
as I am now:

nitwit's attempt to edit samba source
Hi,
Since I really would like some more info (specifically: remote ip
address) to be logged with failed password attempts, I have tried to
edit the samba source code. :-)
Anyway, I changed in source4/auth/ntlm/auth.c

NT domain logon questions
...ient and mostly
from NT, "mostly" because it *seemed* to be working but we did
have some problems with home directories in smbpasswd changing
and smbd not recognizing it. But that's really of no concern
at the moment :)
When we try to join the domain OURDOM (was NTFREE, now's it NITWIT)
the NT 4 WS hangs for a bit and then says "The domain server could
not be located."
Samba writes a lot of stuff to the log file, and most of it
really isn't very interesting to me, but the following seemed
like an *error* that didn't seem covered in any of the docs

Samba 3.0.0beta1 problems when using 'unix password sync'
Hi,
I've been playing with the above release package, and everything works
great. Domain logons with WinXP / Win95, file shares between WinXP / Win95
/ Linux.
That said, I cannot seem to get the above version of the software to play
nice with the 'unix password sync' directive. Trying to modify the Windows
Networking password would usually return 'Incorrect password'. I get

Issues with Samba
Hi I cannot seem to find any information regarding this in the mailing
lists .
I am testing a UNIX PDC before I implement it to general use in the
network .
It works fine It would appear with the win 2000 clients.
But I essentially have two problems
1. When I have PGP installed on the machine and log in with a roaming
profile . It creates a network associates folder that does not get

How to fix "CAPI 2.0 not installed"?
Hallo,
I recently installed wine 1.1.2 on my SlackWare 12.1 Linux
system, because I have to run a hardware debugging program
which only runs under Windows.
When I run the application, i get the message "CAPI 2.0 not
installed".
In the same directory as the application there's a file
called capi2032.dll, and I suspect that has something to
do with it.
If so, how do I tell wine that

scriptaculous question
Hello everybody.
I''m wondering if there is away with scriptaculous to update multiple form
fields with data after finishing an autocomplete request.
Heres an example.
Joe BlowSchmoe fills in his name and starts to type in the customer number,
he selects the approprate customer number from autocomplete list, and bam
the address associated with the customer number is populated into the

basic WINS/smbclient problems
Hi!
Two problems:
1) I can access shares by IP but not by name, so I assume that WINS doesn't do
its job for some reason, smb.conf:
[global]
wins support = yes
name resolve order = lmhosts wins hosts bcast
2) I don't quite get it how smbclient works. As I mentioned name resolve
does't work and hance smbclient -M MACHINE doesn't either but an IP should
work:
# nmblookup -A
