High Frequency Hiss with Opus at 48 kbit/s
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi to everybody.
First of all I hope this is the right place to discuss such an
(nitpicky) issue.
I've just been testing the current Opus release and for mere curiosity
compared its performance to WMAPro with CD quality music at low
bitrates (48 kbit/s).
While Opus generally does a very good job, I found one particular
example (a high pitched chorale) where Opus produces some stra...

[R3B4] errors[:base] = appends, doesn't "set" - bug, feature, or "error 18"?
If you haven''t heard, an "error 18" means "the error is 18 inches from
the screen." Which would mean that I totally get that this could just
be me being stupid.
However, for some reason I''m thinking this violates the normal
behavior of an Array object, so I''m curious as to if I''m doing
something wrong here, or if something really is buggy

Mongrel::HttpHandlerPlugin
Hi,
I''m trying to write a file upload monitor for mongrel that uses
juggernaut to alert the browser of a change. I''m writing a plugin that
uses Mongrel::HttpHandlerPlugin but it looks like the only method that
gets called is process and that is only when the upload has finished.
I''m setting the following:
@request_notify = true
But I am still only getting process to

more_like_this
Hi,
I''m using acts_as_ferret in my rails application and I''d like to use
more_like_this to retrieve some ''similar'' item suggestions. I have a
class ''items'' which has a status field and I need to retrieve items that
only have one of the two possible statuses.
Looking at the more_like_this method indicates it supports an

Guild wars 2 and other translucent windows
...nt windows?
Guild wars 2 has a new launcher that makes extensive use of transparency to mimic the in-game interface, but of course, it turns into a massive black square here.
Screenshot of the launcher, all that is black is supposed to be transparent:

RFC: XRay -- A Function Call Tracing System
TL;DR: At Google we use a call tracing system called XRay which inserts
patchable instrumentation points into function entries and exits. If the
community is interested, we'd like to contribute this system to the LLVM
project. Many more details are contained in the whitepaper at:

Section 9.5.3 ("The PRIO qdisc") has a spelling mistake in paragraph 4: "It
can also contain more all qdiscs...". I think this should be "It can also
contain almost all qdiscs...". (I know this is rather nitpicky).
(5)
Section 9.5.3.2 ("Sample configuration") has another ASCII-art diagram where
it would be clearer if the nodes were labelled as being either qdiscs or
classes. Node 1: is the root qdisc; nodes 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3 are classes;
nodes 10:, 20: and 30: are qdiscs.

Samba as PDC and FDS
...g about any of this is obvious to me right now.
I've been using http://directory.fedoraproject.org/wiki/Howto:Samba as a guide.? I've configured FDS and put in groups and users.? AFAIK I've configured Samba to use FDS to authenticate users.? After some bumps with DHCP and DNS and other nitpicky issues I got my WinXP Pro to talk to Samba, but it's not not authenticating users.
WinXP is spitting out the following: "The network path was not found."
When I try to add an existing local user I get the following:

[PATCH FOR DISCUSSION ONLY 1/2] scripts: Add a script for formatting all C code in the project.
~~~ Not to be applied, for discussion only ~~~
I think we need some kind of "checkpatch" script to catch all the
annoying, nitpicky code style issues that submitters trip up on.
I looked at a few scripts that exist, primarily the ones from Linux
and qemu (massive and complicated), and libvirt (small and sane).
There are a couple of problems:
(1) Linux/qemu-style checkpatch only verifies new code that is
submitted, leaving the...
Don't make contributors work too hard at this. Nitpicky review processes
are a huge barrier to contribution, and not just for newcomers.
I've tried a few times over the last few years to kickstart an open
source style guide that projects could share, so we don't all have to
keep writing our own. What I think I've learned is that you do want...
Should VMs' IP addresses be on the same subnet as the Dom0 and other boxes on our LAN?
Hi.
I''ve installed our 1st Virtualized server using Xen. I''ve managed to
create & populate a VM that''s going to be used as our office mail
server.
Everything seems to work ok -- I can send/receive email to/from the
''real world''.
I''ve read a bunch at the Xen wiki about routing, and bridging, and
security. Wow! Lots of stuff to digest
