Get "some read error" on calls to worker
I''m running the latest from svn (rev 285). I''ve been having a problem
launching a process repeatedly. What happens is that I get a debug
message "some read error" and then the worker refuses to run again.
I''ve stripped my worker down to just doing a puts and it still happens.
Like the other threads I want to launch my workers as needed, however I
get the

How to plot log histograms?
...the log frequency on the y-axis,
but I can't see whether I can use "hist" for this. The purpose of such a
plot is to see whether data are normal or Laplace or something else.
- and the same question for kernel density estimates using "density".
many thanks in advance

User id for the forwarder ports
Hi,
Question:
Can a TCP server (running on the same host as the OpenSSH server) know
the user id/name of a user forwarding an TCP port ?
I.e. if someone on some client machine does
ssh -L9999:localhost:9999 someuser at somehost
nc localhost 9999
and a service accepts the connection on port localhost:9999 on
somehost, can it somehow safely read out the user name "someuser"?

CentOS 7.1 user login screen can't scroll up/down
...t and right mouse buttons to select one
of the users in view, but no one else.
This seems definitely to be a critical bug in CentOS 7.1.
Workarounds:
1. Log in non-graphically using Ctrl-Alt-F2, then run the command startx.
2. Trim down /etc/passwd to 1 (or a few) relevant users.

FreeBSD: Changing UNIX password - Password Chat?
...s told, I'm not confident with the syntax. Have I made it wrong? Or
can you see anything else from the log that can pinpoint the problem?
I would believe that there must be several admins out there who use
the combination of of Samba and FreeBSD without having these problems.
Cheers,

Problem with portaudit's database
Hello!
Yesterday portaudit notified me about squid's vulnerability, but today it
didn't (despite I haven't upgraded squid). This has attracted my attention,
so I've compared yesterday's and today's auditfile.tbz:

vs.

SOLUTION: Version 3.35 problems with Broadcom BCM5780 chipset
...s no hint what Broadcom did to solve our PXE problem,
but the menu.c32 certainly works without any glitch now.
It should be noted that we have also upgraded the system BIOS
to the latest release, but I haven't determined if the BIOS
level has any influence on the PXE menu problem.

If anybody were wondering, and hadn't checked the OpenSSL advisory:
older versions of FreeBSD aren't affected as they have OpenSSL 0.9.7
which isn't affected (it doesn't have DTLS support).
