Solaris NFS woes
...# file appears to have been removed from the directory, but
# is still usable by the process that has the file open.
I dont't see why dovecot would be unlink'ing it's active files while
running - but I actually managed to see the dovecot.index.log appear
briefly and then change to a .nfsXXXX file during the test user login.
dovecot.index always seems to exist correctly but from local tests I
know there should be a dovecot-uidlist, dovecot.index.cache,
dovecot.index.log too, and these all appear to be .nfsXXXX files
I can't seem to find anything relating to this specific problem i...

dovecot produces messages dupes after nfs problems
Hi everyone,
some days ago I had trouble with my NFS-Server (high delays) which
caused dovecot lmtp to deliver the same message several times
(up to 10x).
I recognized some old/unused .nfsXXXX files in the maildirs which
seemed to be index files. I deleted them and everything was fine again.
However, there are still 2-3 mailboxen where mails (old and new ones)
are delivered multiple times.
All duplicates have no "received from" headers. Seperate lmtp log shows
only one delive...

I stream read - stale NFS file handle (reboot of server)
In the old days NFS Shared Path had a static handle (ie a number),
normal based on some number pulled out of the file system/inode.
To fix (well work around) a security issue, for about 10+ years now,
when a NFS server reboots, it generates a new random handle for the NFS
Share. (sever may generate a new random handle per mount request)
