Wireless newtworking in CentOS 5
Installed CentOS 5 on my Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop, hoping that it will be easier to set up wireless networking than it was in CentOS 4.4. But still sooooo difficult to get it working, mainly because there doesn't appear to be a driver pre-installed for this wireless card ((Dell wireless 1390 Mini PCI network card 802.11b/g). Do I still have to use ipw2200 and what is this anyway? - I really

Question about auth multiple configuration
.... But 127.0.0.1 client(network) is considered by dovecot as secure, so won't the auth possible without certificate ? Can't we make two auth policy to make secure (client crt require) for public IP/client and less "secure" (without crt client) for local process (postfix) and local newtwork(127.0.0.1) for roundcube ? I see section "auth default { ... }" and is used by ... default ! But can we make an other one to make this two particular authentication on the same "instance" ? Thank you. And then my configuration : operating system => FreeBSD 7.1 dovecot...

Samba Domain and Vista Profiles
Hello. I've googled around, but I couldn't find anything really like my problem. I've got a newtwork with a Samba PDC and BDC (both running 3.0.25 on FreeBSD with ldapsam_compat backend). Everything works fine with Windows 2000/XP with roaming profiles in //PDC/user/profile (it even worked with 98 back when there was a few), but now I had to add a Vista Business laptop. This joined the domain...

samba + nfs locking doesn't work
...locks, level2 oplocks, posix locking, locking, strict locking, nt acl support but nothing changed. 4) I tried to open the same file from the same serverA (from clientA and from clientB) without nfs and now the locking works well (both from \\serverA\test) The strange thing is that on my company newtwork there are many old samba servers (samba 2.3) and they works well within nfs. The proper way to use samba like a cluser is DFS insead of NFS, but now I can not consider a migration or an upgrade to all the newtork, so the best way at the moment is to use nfs, like the prevoiis sysadmin did. Have y...

Slow XP to samba transfer
...are authorised with passwords, there is one special pawsordless user also, each user has access to common share and has also 'private' share mounted automatically as 'home disk' with his/her user name. All of those works flawlessly, but terribly slow. Additionally, there are few newtwork printers, but not in domain. I have checked all configuration options, socket options etc. All looks correctly. I suppose, that problem lies maybe somewhere in conflicting services, I have no idea what to look for. Maybe another fresh look will help me to solve the problem. If you think it will...

Reason for slow MS-DOS MS client writes
The low speed of writes with the MS-DOS, MS newtworking client has to do with the limit of MAXSENDSIZE (from TCPUTILS.INI) By default, the value is 1024, but the maximum value is 2048. If this value is not set to the same as the Samba server's SO_RCVBUF, then performence will suffer GREATLY. We had a Windows system hosting Norton Ghost imag...

SAMBA not broadcasting server info
Up until a few days ago, I had SAMBA running just fine on several different systems, but very recently on of the server has quit announcing itself to the newtwork. Smbd, nmbd, and winbindd are all running on the server, and the machines on the network can all still reach the shares on the system, but an attempt to browse for the server and its available shares from a client PC does not produce a listing of the system. The other systems show up just fine....
