Markdown use by newspapers?
Does anyone know of any larger newspapers or publishing companies
that use Markdown? Several times I've noticed glitches in web page
articles, posted at larger newspapers, where emphasis has been
indicated by underlines and have wondered.

Rails nested Routing
Hi there!
I experienced an issue with routing.
Basically, I''m trying to follow step-by-step the Rails'' official guides
process for what concerns the nested routing.
So, I have Newspapers that has_many :ads , and :ads belongs to
:newspaper .
What I did was simply trying to obtain an URL like this:
http://localhost/newspapers/1/ads/1
but when I set routes.rb in this way:
resources :newspapers do
resources :ads
end
(as specified in Rails'' guides), I obtain this err...

Hello:
I have a series of newspaper articles from a Canadian newspaper database (Canadian Newsstand) that look just like below.
I've read through this vignette (http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/tm/vignettes/extensions.pdf) about creating a custom reader to extract meta-data, but I can't understand how to apply this i...

Adding time series to time graphs
...I have done this before but cannot figure out how to do it again.
I would like to graph campaign evolution of news stories on certain topics. The campaign time period is as follows:
campaign<-seq.Date(from=as.Date('2011-09-06'), to=as.Date('2011-10-5'), by=1)
I have a table of newspaper story frequencies containing a certain word that can be turned into a data.frame (or not). I'll reproduce it as a data.frame
plotdf<-data.frame(story.dates=seq.Date(as.Date('2011-09-17'),as.Date('2011-09-30'), by=1), Freq=seq(1,14, by=1))
How do I overlay the frequency of...

Stacked Histogram, multiple lines for dates of news stories?
Dear colleagues,
I have extracted the dates of several news stories from a newspaper
data base to chart coverage trends of an issue over time. They are in
a data frame that looks just like one generated by the reproducible
code below.
I can already generate a histogram of the dates with various intervals
(months, quarters, weeks years) using hist.Date. However, there are...

tzdata - extra info.
...w_York all still showed a date
of April 1, instead of March 11. After manually fixing, it is correct.
This was mostly a question about why yum provided a tzdata that was for a
2006a rpm instead of the 2006g or later when I did the yum.

interrupted Y axis
...crude example of what I
mean by interrupted Y axis. Part of the Y axis between
800 and 4500 has been
removed to permit easy inspection of the upper end of
the range of data.
(This is not my work but simply an example of what I'm
trying to describe.)
One finds these interrupted Y axis graphs in
newspapers or other
periodicals, more often than not as a bar chart.
Does a function in R exist to permit on to this easily
to a graph? If not,
would such a function be useful? If yes, would the
grid package be the right
tool for me to try and implement this?

Enterprise Rails Apps
Is there a place I can get a list of "enterprise" Rails applications?
Apparently, even though I''ve looked at the wiki and cited the examples
there, there are some at my organization who still can''t find proof that
Rails is usable in an enterprise setting.
Would you fine folks be able to tell me about some large-scale projects
