define share without name
With Samba 4.2.10 I wish to create one folder share so that Windows clients can access to it by typing only the IP address or netbios name of server, e.g. \\10.56.23.22 and the window will show immediately file list. I read Samba doc and it’s necessary to define every share by symbol "[ section ]” but if I defined [test] share I woull access to it by typing \\ 10.56.23.22\test and this one

Domain DFS on new share
Since past the beta-times of samba 4 (and it worked in former times!!) it never worked like this: \\yourdomain\share or \\yourdomain \dfs-share. The only thing working along witch your domain is: \\yourdomain\netlogon. I had another thread open on this case some times ago. Domain DFS on new share
Hai, Did you configure mutual authentication and integrity for the new share? I suspect something related to this, since you posted : > \\mydomain\sysvol does work, as well as \\mydomain\netlogon. > But, there is some issue with any \\mydomain\newshare. User Access
Dear All I've been thinking about this one for some time. Is it possible to allow a number of Windows clients - on Win 98 - to have access to the same directory on a Samba server ? The purpose of this would be for two or more people to have access to the same document at the same time so that they could edit it. Doesn't sound all that sensible to me but a few people have asked me

roaming profile does not work for "Domain Admins"
...Win7 workstation. Even when I "mkdir -p /new/dir" on the member server, and create a new share in smb.conf, then have "Everyone" in sharing settings, and "Everyone" in security settings with FULL access, and assign the profile of user "johndoe" to \\membersrv\newshare\johndoe" it doesn't work. As I said before, I don't suspect security/file permission, because the user can access that particular directory and read/write directories+files in there. And as said before: when I remove "johndoe" from "Domain Admins" group it works fi...
