Change Netbios name during classicupgrade?

NetBIOS domain name during clasicupgrade".
DOMAIN.LAN is the previous NetBIOS domain name (I know about the dots,
but it was not set by me at the time), and that's precisely what i try
to change during the classic upgrade, for a new name (without dot), like

Winbind problem
...sted: Thu Jul 15, 2004 11:34 am Post subject: Samba/winbind and ADS
problem
I almost have this.
I have read the docs, I have read this, I have purchased both books from the
samba team, and I cannot find any help from any of these.
We are trying to migrate from OLDDOMAIN (an NT4 Domain) to NEWDOMAIN (our
Win2k3 Domain). I have a two way trust right now between the domains. I have
everything configured as per the docs as far as smb.conf, krb5.conf and
nsswitch. I do:
Code:
# wbinfo -t
checking the trust secret via RPC calls succeeded
so everything looks good there, but the weird thing is wh...

unexpected delivery location
Hi,
We're running dovecot 2.2.13, virtual users, with postfix. We have an
olddomain and a new domainname. To 'translate' *@olddomain into
*@newdomain, I have configured:
> cat /etc/postfix/canonical
> @olddomain.com @newdomain.com
While this seems to work, lately we have noticed that dovecot
occasionally creates mailboxes for non-existent users, like:

Hah. Fair enough. Unfortunately yes, your fear has been realised, the
domain & workgroup for both are the same. I've now put in a new domain
& workgroup, hereinafter referred to as NEWDOMAIN and NEWWORKGROUP
respectively, and the old names would be OLDDOMAIN and OLDWORKGROUP.
I've updated the following files to reflect the new domain & workgroup
names - let me know if I've missed something:
- /etc/hosts
- /etc/resolv.conf
- Provisioned new domain using samba-tool (not...

So I'm rather asking for help with debugging the case :)
This person has email my.name at olddomain.pl.
However, they are switching to new domain - newdomain.pl - and it is
becoming their main brand. So temporarily olddomain.pl is still their
"home" domain, but there is a domain alias newdomain->olddomain.
The sieve file is simple: forward message and reply with vacation:

Don't use wildcard aliases.? They break recipient validation and
cause postfix to accept all addresses.
Instead use 1-1 aliases, such as
user1 at olddomaon? user1 at newdomain
user2 at olddomaon? user2 at newdomain
user3 at olddomaon? use...

Move from roaming to local profiles
We are migrating all of our users from the current domain to a new one we created. In this process we are moving them from roaming profiles to local. What would be the best practice to accomplish this? I can find plenty of writeups on how to do the opposite. Also we will be doing some extra folder redirection. Currently we only redirect their my documents to the server. On the new system we plan

strategies to run two NT4 domains or merge them on one samba host
Hi,
we currently run one samba v3.0 domain "DOMAIN30" with WinXP domain
members and Win7/8 accessing the file server without domain membership.
Then we run a second samba v3.5 domain "NEWDOMAIN" with WinXP/7/8 domain
members. Which was migrated from a NT4 PDC to samba 3.0 and to v3.5
eventually.
Neither domain has anything fancy about it: users and joined workstations,
but no trusts, almost no groups (could be re-created manually easily).
a) I want to upgrade at least DOMAIN30 t...

Demote old NT4 PDC to member of Samba domain?
Hi,
When installing Samba, I made it a PDC in a new domain. Now I would like
the old NT4 PDC in the old domain to become a plain host in my Samba
domain. Is this possible? I need to keep the old NT4 machine because
it's running the Symantec Corporate Edition NAV.
In other words, I have
NEWDOMAIN with Samba PDC and all clients
OLDDOMAIN with NT4 PDC alone, no client
Can my NT4 PDC become a plain client in NEWDOMAIN?
Thanks,

Change Netbios name during classicupgrade?
...oup:
#net getdomainsid
SID for local machine AD is: S-1-5-21-673913221-4242741474-1014044216
SID for domain OLDDOMAIN.LAN is: S-1-5-21-1905493267-1041818301-753029000
After change workgroup:
#net getdomainsid
SID for local machine AD is: S-1-5-21-673913221-4242741474-1014044216
SID for domain NEWDOMAIN is: S-1-5-21-673913221-4242741474-1014044216
It sets domainsid to the same than localsid (And again it doesnt
retrieve domain accounts)
I tried also to change first localsid (net setlocalsid) to the same than
the domain then change the domain sid, but it switches me again on
another [new] SID....

Tuning the performance of Samba over LAN network to improve I/O performance
Hello friends,
I am trying to test NAS I/O performance over a network and trying to see the
numbers for write and read speed. I have successfully configured and ran a
lot of tests. However the numbers have not increased, I have reached a
bottleneck.
I tried playing around with the smb.conf file including all possible
variations like,
socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=(tried values like

CentOS 6.8 Apache-2.2.15-53 re-write question
...e re-write rule. Apparently CentOS 6.8 is running apache-2.2.15-53. I am trying
to redirect all pages except for two pages. The apache rewrite directives in the httpd config are:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI}!^/test/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI}!^/my-folder/
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.newdomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]
These commands should cause all requests to get re-directed to www.newdomain.com except for those with a /test or /my-folder on the end of the
URL. However when I place these commands into the the httpd config apache spits out this error message:
