When I look at the nt and lan hashes in the ldap records they have not

It's almost like I need to some how touch the ldap record for it to work
This is really confusing.. Any one have an idea?

Upgrading LDAP entries from 2.2.7 for Samba 3 not happening
...y just use
the ldap servers to get their passwords from. (no roaming desktops or
anything like that.)
I did a bit of reading up and see that I need to run the convertSambaAccount
script against an ldif export.
So here's what I did
ldapsearch -LL -x -h localhost -D
"uid=root,ou=People,dc=newberg,dc=k12,dc=or,dc=us" -b
"ou=People,dc=newberg,dc=k12,dc=or,dc=us" -w > old.ldif
I got an ldif no problem. I don't really know what a SID is or what's it
for. Something to do with having a domain (which we don't)
So I try this
[root@ldap /]# net getlocalsid
bash: net...

A Couple of Questions
...wn. Each session tied to a user has a 5 min expire
on in activity. Finally I can do a daily, weekly, or monthly report on
the users activity for a given period of time.
I know this last question is like 4 questions in one but I thought I
would throw it out there and see what happens.

Speaking of sessions
...day it was. I would then create a class that
looks for a month, week, or day and calculates the total for each and
outputs it in a report. The reason I am coming to this list is because I
would to get your thoughts on this and any ideas as to weather it has
been done before and how.

Can't set SeDiskOperatorPrivilege to Domain Admins. (NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER) Error.
...streams_xattr
I’ve restarted the SMB service and even restarted the whole server to no
avail. I keep getting the “Failed to grant privileges for NSD\Domain Admins
(NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER)” Error.
The only “luck” I’ve had was adding someone like the following:
net rpc rights grant “irlbeckt at nsd.newberg.k12.or.us”
SeDiskOperatorPrivilege -U "NSD\Administrator"
Irlbeckt is not a local user on the system, but and AD user.
[root at smbgroups ~]# net rpc rights list privileges SeDiskOperatorPrivilege
-U "NSD\administrator"
Enter NSD\administrator's password:

timing_sleep malfunctioning under MinGW
Hi,
I have successfully gotten the libshout-2.0 release to compile under
gcc/MingGW ('gcc -mno-cygwin', version 'gcc (GCC) 3.3.1 (cygming
special)'), after applying Leigh Smith's patches as posted on this list
(http://www.xiph.org/archives/icecast-dev/0660.html). I have then
generated a dll and wrapped it in JNI using the stubs from libshout-java

can''t get rails to connect to mySQL - HELP!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, but this is really NOT as easy as the tutorials/books make out.
I''m really struggling at the first hurdle here. And while I''m not a
programmer by design I do know my way around most stuff. And if I can''t
get this to work I suspect more people will have the same issues. There
seems to be too many variables to address.
I have winXP, I have ruby and rails all

...is an upgrade from Samba 2.0.7[1]. I think RPMs are available
from the samba site. If not, you can try getting the SRPM from Roswell
and do a "rpm --rebuild" of it.
[1] The errata version for RHL 7 is 2.0.10, AFAIR

Share names causing big troubles
I work for a school dist, and I am having a bit of trouble with the "Student
Server" We have about 3000 students all with their own accounts. I had the
samba server setup to share their home directories but their home
directories are the same as their login name. So jamie.mcparland would be an
example of a share name. But in Win 9X it gets truncated to jamie.mcparla
then we get the error
